Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Just a nice easy 6 miler on the TM. Got to sleep in (vacation has made me tired and lazy!) and get a workout in, but just barely. As I was cooling down: "The nursery will be closing in TWO minutes." Yikes, okay, okay, I'm coming!

Came home and did Shred Level 3 for a good strength workout.

Felt good to run again. Had a hard time getting into the groove. The first three miles were crazy hard @ 8:57, but I just got movin' and feelin' better after that. Finished the last mile under an 8mm, feels good to move them legs!!

AP: 8:45

The race is over and done with, and I'm now going to look forward to another fun year of running. I've never really ran a 'plan' so, I think I'm going to try to focus a little more on a 'plan' and dig in and go for it. Also, I think I need to run solo more. I really have a hard time sometimes when I don't have someone with me. Running is my social hour, but in a race I can't run with people - paces become different and I've got to learn to draw on MY strength. Onward and upward!

Welcome back from your vacation! :)

Your race report was actually the first one I read but just hadn't commented on it yet. I will go back and read it again.

Sometimes we need to step back and evaluate. Looks like you are doing that right now. The first 5 years I trained with a plan and only ran with people on long runs. This year I played it by year and just was happy to help others train and ran the races with others. I really enjoy that so much!

You are a wonderful runner! You definitely have a LOT of STRENGTH to draw upon. Thanks for sharing many many of your strength with me this year. Love you so much!

I guess this means we won't be running buddies? :(

Oh Burt, I'll find time for a few good social runs :) Maybe sometime in the next couple months we can meet up - on the third Thursday...

Will you cover my shift for this month since I'll be running the Vegas Ragnar instead?

Rachel- I love your fresh outlook on running. It's always nice to have a new beginning :)

Nice run! I hope you enjoyed your vacation with the family.

I could not agree more with your last comment about running alone. 26.2 miles all by myself at SGM definitely tested my mental strength.

So glad you are back with a new perspective. Time to start fresh right!

Yo Ms. RAD...."PPPPPP", Plan your Race, Race your Plan. I really loved your personal insights into running and training to run......

Running a marathon is a very crowded lonely sport. And every time you toe the starting line its always about you against the clock all the way to the finish line..

So glad you made it home safe and sound! It is time to recovery and rebuild. Time to start over. We need to go for a run soon...it is the perfect time of year!

Funny that you're looking to do more solo runs. I've determined that i need to do more running with other people.

Nice sixer. I did Shred Level 3 the other day and I canNOT do that rockstar jump as high or for as long as she does. Kicks my butt. ha ha ha!

Smooth, I guess sometimes life isn't always what we 'plan' it to be, but learning and growing is the next best thing, right?

Carina, I'd rather feel achieved than at the beginning again, but either way - makin' it work!!

Rachelle, I guess that is the good thing about failing, helps you re evaluate and then get back at it.

Slick, a crowded lonely sport. That speaks volumes!

Toby, I would LOVE to!! Saturday, Lehi JRP? :)

Julie, I'm loving it as well :)

Cal, okay, so I guess my thing is I just kept thinking "if I had someone here with me, I could do it. I can't do it alone anymore" I need to prove to myself that I can do it without someone there to push me. You were the one that pulled me into the finish at SGM. I think you know that from all the whining I did, but still. I need to find my solo strength. Winter time is group running time though! :) So, let me know and I'll be happy to go along.

Stacie, I didn't think it was all that bad or hard - until about 9PM when I could no longer walk comfortably! I'm so sore today. I had my ipod in while I was doing it, so I'm not exactly sure which ones were the rockstar jumps - I just followed along :) I'll have to pay attention next time. Were they the standing butt kick jumps? Those were brutal!

Scott, it's great, isn't it? :)
