Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Holy Moly, I forgot how much I hate 'long run' x-training days! It was an EARLY morning, 4AM wake up call - baby sitter came at 4:30 so I could head off to the gym and get back in time to get kiddos to the Easter egg hunt. Hubby had to work all day & night & day and just got home about 1PM, I will probably face this dilemma a few more times before things are wrapped up for him in September - blech!

Got to the gym and got to say hello and meet Rob before setting off on the epic x-training journey. I knew I wouldn't be able to handle 3 hrs on the ARC trainer, so I broke it up with a little bike work.

2.27 miles in 60 min on the ARC @ L50, Good hard effort. Bike 15.5 miles in 60 min @ L12 (good cadence on a slight hill), quads a burnin' and legs a turnin'. Final hour back on the ARC - 2.24 miles in 60 min @ L50, my feet kept falling asleep and I was SO happy to be finished.

Stretched a few minutes then hopped in the car to get home. Everyone was happy and one little guy was still asleep! Had a great morning gathering candy and crap for me to throw away in a few days :)

Loosen your shoe laces! So whats the problem with your running?????

From RAD on Sat, Apr 23, 2011 at 17:06:01 from 98.202.17.113

Slick, meh, it's getting better, but still not back to where it needs to be for running. I have shin splints, but on my femur - kind of crazy, but I feel it in my quad. Only problem with running through it is that it can easily lead to SF (and PT isn't 100% sure it isn't already there). So, I need to get to ZERO pain (especially on a 'hang test') before I can run again. The way things are going I think next week some time I should be good to go!

Now that is dedication! Good work on a grueling work out.

Wow that was a monster workout. You are one dedicated, hard working girl.

Way to stick it out Rachel! I've been MIA in the FRB lately....still a bit depressed about running life. My ankle is feeling better and I'm thinking it may be something else (other than a stress reaction). I'm loaded with questions for my doctor this Friday. We'll see! Obviously there is something I need to learn from this trial and I am NOT getting it!

How are YOU feeling? You've been so diligent in your cross training, but I know you are going crazy not pounding the pavement! Hang tough sister!

Allie, I don't mind collecting Easter crap...it's when it becomes X4 with the kids that it drives me nuts!

Carina, thanks, gotta get those 'miles' in!

Nancy, I wish I was on the road with you - soon though, soon!

Toby, I'm so sorry! I'm getting there with this one. The x-training always starts out okay, but dwindles in motivation exponentially as the days drag on....

Happiest Easter ever, Rachel!!! :) :) :)

Wow Rachel, you are amazing... not only did you get up early on a Saturday, you got a babysitter and then you x-trained forever!!

(Teena, I loved your Easter messages, I hope you had a great day, too :):) )

From Kelli on Tue, Apr 26, 2011 at 19:40:13 from 71.219.96.115

I am very impressed with your EPIC day, but even more impressed that you found a babysitter to come over at 4:30 AM!!!

From RAD on Tue, Apr 26, 2011 at 20:24:03 from 98.202.17.113

Kelli, I was impressed at how quickly she agreed to come over too! I think it's my cute baby and not me :) She fell in love with him at RS the other week and she and her husband are both out of work right now and she has expressed wanting a baby, but not being able to afford it (just newlyweds...kind of). So, I think crashing on my couch and getting to play with the baby in the morning was right up her alley! I sure was grateful for it and I may have to employ her again depending on Craig's work schedule as these marathons I've paid for get here!

Rachel, way to tough it out on the long x-training day. It's hard enough on a regular day and you did it. Nice job!!!

I've had enough candy and it's time to go. I don't normally eat candy, but once I get started, I can't stop.
