Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

Oh these legs are in a revolt! Got out with my neighbor this morning, but unfortunately the slow pace was mine and not hers :) The legs are still working on recovery, but if I'm going to run the slam this year they'd better get used to it and FAST!

3.1 miles w/Sandra =  AP: 9:55

4.15 out by my lonesome (headwind and hills) = AP: 9:44 splits: 9:40, 9:36, 9:27, 10:20 (uphill into the wind and legs on fire - imagine mile 25 of a PR race), 9:12 (last .15 push to the finish).

Now I'm off to the gym. I want to do some strengthening, but with the fatigue in my legs I don't think it's a good idea - maybe just the bike and some good reading time :)

Pics are in! I had to laugh at the finish pics...I look so angry and miserable! My stranger friend is on my left l/s white shirt and orange shoes. here

***15 miles on the bike @ L5 for 60 minutes, just nice and easy. Good reading time :) ***

Hahahaha, Grrrrrr.

Go swimming. That will loosen up your legs. Even after a tough workout and long swim my legs feel really good. Do eet.

Ya girlfriend, it's 17 weeks till the first Slam event in Ogden......Time to step up to the plate. And I don't mean the dinner plate!!!!

Hey nice pics! :)

From RAD on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 14:39:05 from 67.172.229.125

Jun, I don't think I've ever liked one of my running pictures - so I guess I'm just staying true to form :) The closest pool is 30 minutes away and I'd have to pay for day care. Can't WAIT for the rec center to open up down the street in March!!

Slick, Ogden will be my last long run before racing UVM! So, maybe one last week of dinner? :)

Scott, glad you enjoyed them, I always think they take like 50 pictures, but then you only end up with a few. Strange.

Devine Miss M - is not it Devine when you hang it all out there in a race, no regrets, but lots of guts, the sore feeling rings great effort and joy. I expect you will continue on your journey of excellence in effort.

Stay Kool, B of BS Rools out

I love pics, I'm going to go look now! ;)

I'm always amazed at how sore my legs are after a race, it was worth it, you did so awesome!!

From Burt on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 17:16:51 from 206.19.214.144

Oh the things I could do with those pics...

From Smooth on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 21:00:52 from 67.2.95.228

WOW! NICE miles and bike! My legs felt like they've been run over by a freight train! I wish I knew how to swim! I will take lessons just to save my life!

You're brave to post the race pics...I can just see Burt's wicked grin now! :)

From allie on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 21:12:16 from 174.23.123.195

you look great in all of those pictures!

i noticed you are wearing the ogden '09 marathon shirt. that is the first day that i "met" you, even though i didn't really meet you. i saw you wearing your "26.2 virgin" shirt and you were talking to smooth. i was standing fairly close to you for about 5 minutes, and i kept thinking i was going to work up the nerve to say hi...but then i felt dumb so i didn't say anything.

i like being creepy like that.

nice recovery workout -- i think you are doing everything right. keep it up.

I love #64, so cute!

From Nancy on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 22:04:39 from 76.27.19.206

Great workout as usual. It amazes me how fast you can recover from a long race.

From Bec on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 23:47:25 from 71.199.12.198

I see that you are back. Looks like you are putting some healthy Xtraining in for the week. Good for you!

Where would you like to run this weekend? If my bum isn't too sore I would like to put a big mile day down on Saturday.

From Bec on Tue, Jan 25, 2011 at 23:48:15 from 71.199.12.198

Just looked at your pics and they are really cute. They got some really great ones of you.

From RAD on Wed, Jan 26, 2011 at 13:39:50 from 67.172.229.125

Brent, thanks! I do love leaving it all on the road, definitely energizing!

Merri, that's why I put the link up. My hubby isn't all over the 'come to the race and sit around to take pictures' so I only get 'race' pictures. Too bad I'm too cheap to buy them!

Carina, this is the first time in a non-downhill race. I'm amazed at how long the fatigue is hanging on.

Burt, I don't know how to respond...If I fight too much it's a given you'll do it, but if I'm apathetic you may do it just to do it. I think I'll just stay neutral.

Smooth, for me it is just fatigue. I get running and they feel like I'm at mile 22!! I scheduled a massage for Saturday, I can't wait!!

Allie, I wore that shirt JUST for that purpose :) For the rest of the year at races I would run into people that said they'd run Ogden and I'd tell them I was wearing the 26.2 virgin shirt and they'd respond 'oh yeah! I remember you!' Gotta make the first time memorable. I can't believe you didn't say hello though, totally would've made me feel like a rockstar!! I just remember reading reports afterward and that you were injured at nearly the same point I was, and I felt a kinship with you through injury. I didn't know at the time what an AMAZING runner you were and now I just get star struck :)

From RAD on Wed, Jan 26, 2011 at 13:42:38 from 67.172.229.125

Brooke, #64 is my favorite too. I think I was trying to give a thumbs up and put a smile on, but I know after I took my gloves off I was NOT smiling :)

Nancy, I don't know if recovered is the right word...I'm just forcing the miles on myself right now.

Becca, I'm trying to get a few miles in, but taking it easy to not inflame any injuries that may come out of sore legs. I have to laugh about the pictures, they sure aren't 'nice' pictures, but they'll do - grit and determination is never pretty :)
