Short-Term Running Goals:

Okay, so for 2013 I am going to have FUN! Not that running isn't always fun, but I had a wonderful breakthrough year last year and I want to play this year :) AND get faster! So, my first goal I'm going to put out there is my yearly mileage goal.
It is 2,186 miles from my driveway to my sister (QP's) driveway! I want to spend this year on a virtual trek cross country running those miles. So, that is how far I will run in 2013...from my house to QPs. It will take all year and yes, this is measured on Hwys so it isn't really exactly how I COULD run it, but good enough. 43 miles/week...totally doable, and a fun goal to track how far I've traveled as I go along. Who knows...maybe I'll even run PAST her house :)

I will do more trail runs, Boston, Pacing duties, another Half IM and some other tris. I'm excited for this next year and look forward to having fun with all of you out on the roads, and trails! Maybe bag a few peaks this year too!!

Long-Term Running Goals:

Big Dreams: 5K in 20:2X; 10K in 39:XX; Half in 1:29:XX; Full in 3:15:XX; complete the Rim2Rim2Rim run and not die; Comrades; Iron(wo)Man.

Run for the rest of my life!

Personal:

4 children: twelve, eight, five and baby Fartlek - 2 1/2. Wonderful supportive husband that lets me drag him and the family all over for race after race!

Finished 13 marathons and LOVE running that distance! I'm definitely hooked to the marathon monster and hope to constantly improve my endurance, speed and stay injury free!

I've also found a love of trail running! I hope to keep improving on this front.

After being injured with a broken foot at the first of 2012 I found a tri group and started training with them and am now loving tris! The half IM was harder than I'd ever imagined...and am ready to do it again. I'll earn my bike butt and someday have enough time to train for a full IM.

I AM a BQ runner. I AM strong. I CAN do hard things. I am no longer thinking about what I'm NOT, I will believe in what I AM!

On that note, had a dentist appointment early this morning - well early for me lately. The dentists office was a gal short and overbooked, so it took FOREVER to get us all through. Didn't get home until 10:30 and by then it was too late to go to the gym, because the daycare closes at 11:30. Why waste the $ at this point? So, I ran on MY treadmill (up and down my street)

I didn't want to. I was making excuses from the get go: I had a bad day yesterday, I'm struggling mentally lately to keep a positive mind set, my legs are tired and sore, I won't be able to run as fast as I want to, I need more recovery from Saturday. Yeah, uh huh...get your butt out the door and run! dummy.

So, I started running. I felt like I was running through molasses, but true to form I didn't check my garmin until I was done with the 1st mile - what the heck?!? 8:07, well, it felt fast, because it WAS faster than I'm used to warming up. I've wondered if my faster TM miles could translate to the road. If I could really make it work like that outside, alone, with just me and my crazy brain. But, I did - and I would've thought I was running closer to a 9mm!! YES! My plan to trick my brain into believing that I can run fast is already taking hold. Well, I pushed just a little harder the next mile - 7:35. Wow, guess all those excuses just got pounded, huh?

I did have to take a break here and run inside to use the little girls room - and check on all the kiddos picking my tomatoes in the garden. I decided to take the next two just easy and then push the last 2, easy = about 8:35 in my mind. Well, I didn't check garmin until I was done: 8:06, 8:09. HA! It really is working.

Walked from mile 4 beep back to my 'start line' to reset for the last 2 fast/push miles - maybe 50 feet. Got a good song on, and I was off. 7:39, 7:40. Nice, I'm lovin' it.

My road is kind of a U as far as elevation, pretty flat, but a down to about .25 mile away, then up to the turn and then you turn right back, so the finish is uphill and today it was into the wind. The wind got stronger every mile, but I was determined not to let excuses get the best of me. I AM a mentally strong runner, I AM able to push myself, I believe in myself.

Now, it's late and I've got a house that was destroyed over the weekend that needs some attention, and some kids that need lunch. So, I'm signing off.

AP: 7:53 splits: 8:07, 7:35, 8:06, 8:09, 7:39, 7:40 (6:48 last 20 feet recorded...see I was pushing to the finish! always bring it home strong!).

Don't forget to check out my awesome BIL training for his first full! He is really working hard and I'm excited to be able to watch him finish Nov 12th in Richmond!

Great run! Aren't you glad you got out the door now? :)

Andrea, yes. yes I am! It was all worth it, and it always is. I'm just the queen of laziness lately, and like I said, I'm really not having good 'mental health' days lately. So, one accomplishment in the bucket is a good thing!

Great run, and way to get out and do it even when you don't feel like it.

Nice job! I need some of your juice or whatever it is you're using.

look at you go RAD!! :D. IRON. Get on top of it. Floradix (without the gluten yeast is best I think)--- but it is 34 dollars for a bottle. 56% iron per dose. I only take one dose a day but it is way more absorbable than others-- by evidence in my way increased level of ferritin in just two weeks taking it religiously. Did you read what Sasha said about eating uncooked oats?

Devine, like the attitude change, I would take it a couple of steps further, but, you are getting there, no guts, no glory. If we can talk sometime, it would be interesting.

That's my hometown and my very first marathon! Have a great time. I'm jealous.

your awesome run just puts a smile on my face! WAY to GO, RAD!!! Yes, believe in yourself, you are all that and better!

I like the sound of this run. About time you see some low eights and into the sevens. Keep it strong and true.

From bye-wing on Tue, Oct 18, 2011 at 10:58:47 from 110.169.171.135

I like your atitude, maybe some will rub off on me. :)

Also, good sneaking in a 10k run around the neighborhood on a busy day, even with kids at home. That is to be commended as much as your 7:35 mile.

Hope tomorrow is another good day for you with some more good split times.

From RAD on Tue, Oct 18, 2011 at 13:18:16 from 76.27.16.189

Catherine, thanks. I know you've felt my pain there!

Chad, have a horrible miserable race that makes you question even running once more in your life, because you are SO bad at it. It makes your mind up to do it or not, but to stop just messing around.

Julie, where do you buy it at? Luz said whole foods is the only place, but it is SO far for me I get lazy. Did you try the iron pills in your SGM packet? I really liked them! No aftertaste and I felt like they really helped with my recovery (especially since I was in need of a little iron for the month then too). Yes, and I thought about trying it. I just spent a day making applesauce with my mom (fresh - NOTHING added!) so I could use that and cinnamon to help out the swallow factor :) Can I at least heat the milk? Would definitely be worth a shot!

Allie, thanks. you are certainly an inspiration for me!

Nancy, thanks, that means a lot to me.

Brent, glad to see I'm on the right track! Yes. We should chat soon. I should probably have you call me. I'm horrible about setting aside time to call, but will always answer!

Melody, Richmond, VA? you'll have to tell me about the course! I'm excited and hear it is quite a good course.

Smooth, I'm just trying to keep up with you :) You run SO many MP miles all the time, I just need to put more of them in my training so that my body doesn't feel like they are 'hard'. You are amazing and I can't wait to see how Saturday goes!!!!!

Becca, I've always had it, I was just too pansy to do it. SGM really made me re-think a lot of how I run and train. No more doubting mustafa here. I'm doing this!

Bye-wing, yeah, running up and down the street isn't my favorite route, but it's the only way to get it done sometimes. How about you come visit for Christmas and I'll give you lots of my attitude? :) hehehe

So you haven't qualified before for Boston, right? I haven't either. I'm excited to get to that point. We will do it Rachel, we will!! :) :)

I love your attitude! We need to catch some training runs in the near future!!!
