5 miles @ 9:18/mi Cascade route.

Aside from the scare with my right knee a couple of weeks ago, so far my body's handling my return to running pretty well...knock on wood. I'm feeling a little arthritis like pain in my right hip, but it's not bad (yet?). In the past my hip hasn't bothered me until after 10+ miles, so we'll have to see when I work up to that distance. The best news is that I haven't felt any of the sciatic pain that was bothering me so much. I really think stretching and the Curcumin supplements my boss recommended have helped.

I'm trying to be prudent as I ease back into running, but it's nice to start feeling like I want to push a little longer or faster/or more miles per week. Today I just pushed a little faster and ran 9:18/mi instead of 9:30/mi. It's not much, and it's much slower than I was not so long go, but it's progress. I'll take it.

Murdoch Canal Trail

It was great to run with Larry and Jolene again this morning, even if it was only for 1.5 miles. It was especially great to see Larry out on the trail to recovery. Kevin and I then picked up the pace for the remainder of the 8 miles. We started at about 9:05/mi (too fast for me at this point) then I gradually slowed to 9:55/mi the second to last mile. It was hard for me to keep moving, but I did manage 9:32 for the last mile (quite a bit of downhill). I haven't run 8 miles for a long time. I felt good about finishing, and without much pain.
