Taper Long Run today. Burrrr it was cold and windy. 38 degrees, 20-25 mph wind and a chill factor of 25 degrees. I put on a lot of clothes :-) Even though I fell short of the goal pace slightly I still think this was a good run considering the conditions. The head wind on some of the hills made it a little tough so you can see the slowdown and the HR rise when the two were together.

Matthew 8:23-27

23 Then he got into the boat and his disciples followed him. 24 Suddenly a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. But Jesus was sleeping. 25The disciples went and woke him, saying, “Lord, save us! We’re going to drown!”

26 He replied, â€śYou of little faith, why are you so afraid?” Then he got up and rebuked the winds and the waves, and it was completely calm.

27 The men were amazed and asked, “What kind of man is this? Even the winds and the waves obey him!”

A "little tough"? I was out there, it was downright frigid. Here in Texas we have our own special kind of cold. I don't think Rye could handle it, but we'll have to ask him. Nice finishing touches on a great running week.

Solid run. Nothing like going into that freezing wind!

Know all about that, good job, it is not easy to tough out those runs. You get stronger all the time. Nice!

Thanks guys...It's Monday and I'm starting to feel like I shouldn't be tapering so early (13 days and counting down).

From derhammer on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 11:07:59 from 192.156.110.39

Agreed, the wind was strong and cold out there on Saturday.

From what I recall there really isn't much of a taper with the RLRF program is there? Even the weekend before the marathon they have you out there doing a solid MGP run if I remember correctly.

DH,

Intervals are about the same, Tempo is about half and Long drops to 10 this week. All are at relatively fast paces. Next week is about half of this week. I'm going to keep my Cross-training the same, 2-3 days cycling (probably on the stationary bike).

From rAtTLeTrAp on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 12:54:23 from 24.18.125.122

Nice run! I takes serious commitment to get out in those conditions. The only thing you were missing was a little sideways rain.

From Steam8 on Mon, Feb 13, 2012 at 21:25:41 from 166.70.55.77

38 is a nice warm run around here! ha! The taper has got to be feeling good! Crossing my fingers for 13 days from now!!!!!!
