This was the same run I did last Monday with about the same results. Below is a comparison between the two runs and the same run done 11 weeks into my last marathon training schedule. The temperature was 45 degrees then and I weighed 5 lbs less. I am very happy with my HR (in red) as it's 10 beats per minute slower on todays run than back in Januray. That's has to indicate some good improvement. The average pace is very close on all of the runs.

2nd 5 Miles 37:37:00 No Monitor 37:27:00 157.2 38:32:00 165.4

I ran the first 5 miles a little slower this week and the second 5 miles a little faster. I wasn't trying to set any PR's or anything, I was just curious how the two runs compared.

Thanks DH,

You made me think of a comparison I wanted to do so I went back and added it to the report above. It makes me feel like I'm still improving.

Wow - 10 beats a minute slower in 10 months? That's some serious heart muscle progress. I'm needing to get that same kind of improvement. Way to be.

"Birdsong loop". Nice!

Nice running Preston! Pretty chilly temps for a Texan!

Are you still doing the 5K on 10/20? You should wear the heart monitor for that and compare it to a past 5K where you wore the monitor too (if you have done one with a HM).

Nice run, btw!

Definitely looking good. You are rounding into form nicely.

You nailed it, very fast pace too, love the way you accelerated to the end. That HRM is a really useful tool when you can mine that kind of data out of it.

Russ,

We'll see what's the real truth come race time :-)

DL,

Birdsong loop...has a nice ring to it doesn't it?

Thanks Rye,

60 is perfect!

Carl,

I am and I will.

Thanks Joe and Flat,

I like to go back and compare the numbers, it makes me feel like I am accomplishing somethng.
