I was supposed to run my Tempo Run today but I wimped out because it looked like it was going to be raining at 5:30 am when I needed to start. As it turns out the rain had blown over and the skies were clear. I had already made plans to go to the gym so I just stuck to that plan. I'll do my Tempo Run tomorrow morning then my long run on Saturday. It was probably best to switch days anyway because the road was very wet and I have several low water crossings where I would have had to run through the water about anckle deep.

Deuteronomy 18:22

Ankle deep water sounds fun. I actually like running in the rain as long as it isn't sideways rain. The wind is what kills me. That's was a killer bike workout. I used to ride 16 miles to work and had to push pretty hard to get there in an hour.

Merry Christmas to you too! What is your next race?

From I Just Run on Thu, Dec 22, 2011 at 13:54:00 from 67.79.11.242

Hey RT,

I've been biking (road bike) since August as cross training. I started out and 16 mph over 15 miles was hard. Now I ride 25-35 miles at 19-21 mph with the same effort :-) It took about 2 months for my legs to acclimate to the new muscle requirements.

Benny,

My next race is 3M Austin Half-Marathon but I'm really training for Cowtown Marathon at the end of February. My first and only marathon attempt didn't turn out that good because of an injury a few weeks before the race. Now I'm trying an new training method which requires much less running (but running really hard when I do) and quite a bit of cross-training. As you can see, today was a cross-training day.

I'm gonna be at Cowtown bro! :) I'm running like 6-8 marathons as training runs....in preparation for Boston. Good Luck! I hope to see ya there. I'm doing the Houston Marathon hoping to run a 2:29-2:33 we'll see and then shooting for a 2:25 in Boston... Hope your training is going well! :)

From I Just Run on Thu, Dec 22, 2011 at 14:10:43 from 67.79.11.242

Wow...that's exciting. I tried to enter Houston but it was full. I may also run OK City. I'm training to run a 3:16...it's probably a stretch for me but that's what the formulas say I should be able to do, based on my current times. Not anywhere in your class but I guess ok for only running a year and a half and being old :-)

Running is always good bro whether you run fast or not! BTW I love the 3M! I wish I was running that this year!

Running 2:58 800 repeats & a sub 3:30 marathon at age 50+ is fast! And you are fast on a bike for any age!! Merry Christmas!!

From I Just Run on Thu, Dec 22, 2011 at 19:29:43 from 67.79.11.242

Ha ha....JG...I plan to run a 3:16 marathon...don't slow me down quite yet... :-)

From JG on Thu, Dec 22, 2011 at 23:04:53 from 71.59.27.33

I have complete confidence you can run a 3:16, last time I checked that is still a sub 3:30! :) Now, if on a wild hare, you run a sub 3:15 ... we will have to change the verbage from fast to super fast ... Which is where we know you will ultimately end up anyway!

From Dan on Thu, Dec 22, 2011 at 23:57:51 from 24.209.83.20

3:16, preach it :) Nice bike miles, even more so when you think 22 miles and you didn't go anywhere! Thanks for the prayers, keep training strong.
