I kicked a dog today!

While running my 4th mile today, a mid-sized dog ran out and tried to bite me. I took a full running kick at him and he landed about 10 feet away...yapping I might add! The only problem is that it hurt my hip a little. Stupid dog!

3rd week on the RLRF program and I think I'm making good progress. All my training times are slightly better than the last training session and my HR is running slightly lower even though the weather is much hotter than before.

I'm excited that Rye is keeping up with the training. He's actually doing better than me because I've really not cross-trained properly. This will probably catch up with me if I don't get going with it soon.

Hopefully this won't offend you, but I didn't bother reading anything after the dog-kicking part. That is AWESOME. Fear of getting bitten by off-leash dogs constantly plagues me and I'm always prepped to deliver a kick, if needed. So glad you did.

Really nice tempo! I like that you punted a dog too. I had a pack of 5 little yip-yip dogs circling me one time - I had a few attempts but missed on all kicks. It just made them angrier.

Glad to hear that mutt didn't get a piece of you before getting launched. Remember to follow through and look in the direction you want it to travel next time. It will be easier on your hip that way. Practice makes perfect :)

What do you mean you're not getting in your cross-training? Hello, kickboxing! You just need more dogs on your course and you'll be all set!

Jun,

I did have to chuckle a little when I kicked him :-)

Joe,

This is the second dog this week that's tried to bite me. Now I'm wondering if I have a reputation?

Trap,

I did look up at the last minute and wonder if I really tried, could I kick him over his yard fence.

DL,

Bring-um on...oops my neighbor has 2 great pyreness, 2 golden labs, 1 blue heeler, 2 more muts (I think) and a new black lab (he's the one that tried to bite me earlier this week). They all run wild, I don't know if I can handle all of them :-(

IJR... you need my dog whispering skills.... atleast flatlander says I have em. Nice last mile too. You are kicking some trash!

Thanks Rye,

My paces are pretty good but if you look at my HR (effort) you'll see I'm really exerting too much effort for the results. I wish it wasn't quite so hard :-)
