Endure and persist; this pain will turn to your good. - Ovid

Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have gained access by faith into this grace in which we now stand. And we rejoice in the hope of the glory of God. Not only so, but we also rejoice in our sufferings, because we know that suffering produces perseverance; perseverance, character; and character, hope. And hope does not disappoint us, because God has poured out his love into our hearts by the Holy Spirit, whom he has given us. - Romans 5:1-5

AM - met Carson at Mack Park, and then we ran up Birch Creek Canyon. The road was mostly clear of snow, but was a total mud pit. I think it will be pretty good for running by the end of the week, but today it was very slow going. Averaged 8:06/mile for 8 miles.

PM - Cemetery Loops with Seth. 4 miles, 7:05/mile average.

Run-commuted home from work today, and did a fartlek work: 2-minutes hard, 1 minute recovery, x 10 repeats. Warmed up 3 miles at brisk pace: 6:12, 6:06, 6:01. Then started the fartlek.

Pretty consistent pacing, which was good. Terrain for that route home is mostly flat, with some slight inclines here and there. Safe to assume that the slower intervals were on uphills, faster ones on downhills. Felt pretty good, although it was plain to me that the speedwork was badly needed. After I got home, I grabbed Seth, and we ran down to Mack Pack and along the path there, and back home. 12 miles total. 6:20/mile for the entire run.

Did the Bear River - Benson Loop this morning, with 8 miles of tinman tempo. The tempo miles were 5:56, 5:52, 5:48, 5:37, 5:36, 5:48, 5:59, 6:10. Faster miles were due to slight downhill, slower miles at the end due to slight uphill plus wearing down plus really needing a portapot. Found a portapot near Skyview thanks to new home construction, and then continued on, cooled down for a few miles on the canal trail. 6:25/mile for the entire run. Decent workout, given that I'm at little worn down from the week's mileage.
