Short-Term Running Goals:

Continue running Boston and Chicago every year, adding in others here and there

Complete in a Ironman 70.3 in 2017, and if all goes well an Ironman in 2018

Long-Term Running Goals:

- Run at least two marathons every year

- Run the 6 Majors (Chicago, New York, Boston, Berlin, London, Tokyo)

- Inspire and encourage family/friends and run marathon(s) with them

  

Personal:

I am a 34 year old male from Chicago, Illinois. I graduated from the University of Colorado in May 2006 and started running in the spring of 2007. Since then I have gone from a max of about 220 pounds to my current weight of roughly 175 lbs, and more importantly have developed a true joy and passion for running.

7th career marathon today. Started out strong with sub-7 minute miles through 17 (with thoughts of running a 3:05 or better for BQ) and then hit a wall like never before (didn't get to train as much as I would've liked in the past few weeks due to leg issues) and experienced a lengthy period of uncertainty and extreme discomfort in which I felt like stopping, crying and vomiting all at about the same time. The goal quickly changed from making a time to just surviving the race. Preserved although my last 5-6 miles were quite slow at around 9 minutes. Overall I'm happy with my performance but recognize I need to train more and smarter in order to get back to Boston. Course was scenic but surprisingly none of it was ocean front and crowd support was almost nonexistent. Might come back and do it again just because the sanctuary hotel here where we're staying is so wonderful!
