Long Run: (suggested pace - 11:10)

Overall Average Pace: 10:46 (I was hoping for 10:30, but when I run into town I become really distracted. My pacing suffers. I need to stop doing this even though I LOVE running downtown!

Thoughts:

I have really struggled for the past month and a half with my running. I've lacked motivation. I've avoided and skipped races because I'm afraid of failure. I constantly worry about injuries. I could go on and on and on. I don't have the answers, but losing my fitness level, choosing avoidance, and allowing negative self-talk is not bringing me satisfaction either. For the time being, I have just resolved to keep pushing forward.

6 x 1 mi / 8:34 with 400 recovery / 9:50

I had not run on the treadmill for quite some time. I grew fearful of not being able to run faster paces so I avoided these type of workouts. I'm glad that I pushed myself to go back to the health club. It was easier than I anticipated. Isn't that how things work? The aniticpation is the worse than the actuality.

Also, the Brooks Ghost 12 are working much better for my big toe. I've barely experienced pain since switching out shoes.

This race was sponsored by a former first grade student. She is now a senior in high school. I love supporting their endeavors and appreciate how they stay connected with me through the years.

In typical fashion, I am a slow starter. If I could figure out how to improve my first mile, I might enjoy 5K events better.

I tried my hardest to keep my finish under 26 minutes as I neared the time clock. Unfortunately, my best efforts failed me. It was a tough finish running uphill. Overall, it was good race with an overall average pace of 8:23.
