The Pinhoti 100 is a week from this Saturday (and Sunday), on Nov. 8-9. Needless to say, the extra energy from the taper coupled with a slight anxiety about the race has me all wound up.
That's about the same reaction I have when I think about the distance too much.
You're right; I could make some awesome progress on my thesis if I could only channel all this extra energy into concentration on research instead of concentration on the race itself.
No worries; I can (and have) thoroughly psych myself out without any external prompts.
My research is on blast effects with regard to, let's say, less than sturdy structures. I'm doing a lot of computational modeling with some incredibly confusing finite element/computational fluid dynamics software, and, just to keep things interesting, I get to occasionally do model verification, which is a wonderful euphemism for blowing stuff up, complements of the US government.
Keep it family-safe. No vulgar or profane language.
