Easy Sunday morning on a mild day. All we have now is mild days, it seems like it's always 55-65 with a few clouds, maybe a short rain storm or an hour of sun. It's very calming, and I don't miss the snowstorm that hit Logan the other day. I did buy a house, so I'm starting to scout new routes from there now.

Sasha -- I think Paul mentioned this to you, but I'm not on the WBR team. That was kind of the point of my other post. If I had the WBR to train for I'd be interested right now, but without something like that I've noticed my energy going elsewhere. That's why I'm scaling back training for the short-term. Thanks for the encouragement though.

How about breaking 1:20 in the half or 3:00 in the full marathon in the fall?

Yeah, those are both long-range plans. But I haven't seen a race to plan on yet. When I do pick one and can focus on a goal I'll crank it back up. Seattle marathon is in November, so I'll have time if I decide for that one.

Dave - people often ask me which race I am training for. I do not have a good answer. I do not train for races. There is always a race you can run out there if you are in good shape. I believe this this the best approach for reaching long term goals. Just like a good student studies for knowledge rather than a test, a good runner trains for long-term fitness rather than a particular race.

If your goal is a marathon in November, I do not think you have much time. Proper preparation for a marathon takes years. The time to train is right now.

Go find yourself a cute little Cross Country girl at the local University, that should motivate you.

James --

I'm working on it guy, she isn't a runner though.

Keep up the good work then! And put her on a bike while you run. That is what I did when I was dating Allison or I would have never ran, because we were together 24/7.
