Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

630AM: Easy TM run this morning.  I didn't get out and run yesterday, thus ending my streak of 100M months.  Turning over a new leaf now with the Thanksgiving holiday behind us.

930PM: 20 mins on my wife's Treadclimber (1M).  It's the first time I've used the thing and I must say that it is a difficult workout.  It's challenging simply because you have to concentrate on balancing your weight and stepping evenly on each track.  There is absolutely no way to run on the thing which leads to less mileage.  However, even at a walking pace it gets the heart rate up to where it needs to be.

Noon: Short, easy run during lunch.  Half mile pickup at the end and 1/4 mile cool down.  Very cold but I was prepared for it.  Gonna try to get a few more miles on the TM this evening.

930PM: Decided to do a little weight training before my TM run.  Nothing too fancy and strenuous, just tryinng to tone up.  3M progressive run ending w/ the last mile at marathon pace.

1PM: Easy, slow 4M run at lunch.  Very cold w/ bright sunshine.  My upper body is really sore from yesterday's weight training.  I can barely lift my arms above my head.  Getting reacquainted w/ "The Great Gatsby"- one of my all-time favorite fiction novels that I was forced to read in high school and ended up really enjoying.

10PM: Late 3.39M run on the TM after watching the Civil War (UO v. OSU).  I actually felt much better than I thought I would given the late hour.  Progressive run that topped out at 8 min/mi.
