Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

Gale force winds forced me inside tonight for an easy 7+mile run on the TM.  Left ankle is incredibly stiff but began to loosen somewhat about halfway through.

8PM: 6+ fast miles w/ Martin.  Started pretty slow but I kept pushing the pace to see just how badly Martin wanted to beat me.  He hung in there to the end.  Turns out there are few things he enjoys more than finishing ahead of me on training runs.

8PM:  6M with Martin at a moderately easy pace. We were both feeling kind of sluggish from our pancake dinner but we still managed to finish off the run with our last mile being at current MP (8:20/mi).

An evening run without wind.  Who knew there was such a thing?  Moderate pace until the 3/4M which ended up being a sprint to the finish with Martin coming from behind to edge me at the tape.  On the bright side, found out this morning that I won the lottery!  I'm in for my first St George Marathon in October.  Still haven't committed to the Potato Marathon next week.  My ankle has been bothering me more than usual and I don't feel like I'm in good marathon shape.  I'm probably in finishing marathon shape.  I could go out there next Saturday and knock one out but I feel like I don't want to unless I'm at least as prepared as my last/best marathon performance- and right now I'm not.  We'll see.
