Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

615AM: Recovery run.  Didn't get very much sleep last night so I was more than a little sluggish.  Started to get a rhythm about half way into the run.  Temps were cool (50's) but I was still sweating like normal.  I wonder if that is attributable to lack of hydration.  I need to drink more water but I'm having a hard time cutting back on my Diet Mt. Dew addiction.  8:33/mi pace overall.

Good job getting out. Gotta still have a little fun in life...viva Diet Mt. Dew!

For me it's the sugar variety, or code red. I fouled up and bought 4 12 packs when they were on sale around the 24th. I've got one can left, and then that's it...as long as I avoid the subsidized soda machine at work.

I finally found a way to cut back on the Diet Dew habit -- I started drinking more Coke Zero.

Thanks for enabling my DMD habit guys. I was considering entering rehab but thanks to your encouragement I don't think I've hit rock bottom yet. :)
