Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

Back to the grind w/ more hill training.  Ran an out and back from Les Bois Park to Table Rock.  Legs felt good but my heart rate was racing from the get-go.  Not sure what that was about.  Nice easy pace, 9:27 on the way up and 8:32 overall.  I plan to run again this evening.  I was travelling on Saturday so I wasn't able to get a long run in again this past week.

Late PM:  TM run; 1 mile warmup, 6 mi @ 8:28 pace w/ 1% incline, .3 cooldown.  Eclipsed my previous PR for monthly mileage that I achieved in February.  I'm hoping go over 200 miles tomorrow.

Les Bois to Tablerock would be quite the run....

Yeah, it is. It gets real steep in the last couple of miles from where the home development ends to the top- averaging about 8% grade.

I was actually being a smart ass..Les Bois is the racetrack..I've done that Tablerock run a few times...I run from Fort Boise, up top, then down the trails behind the old pen and back through the east end. It's quite the climb. I think the run in the opposite direction, up the trails by the old pen, is steep enough to be nearly impossible.

I'm such an idiot. Ever since I began training to run the Les Bois 10k I've used Fort Boise and Les Bois interchangeably. Doh!

My young Bro in law runs up the trails behind the penitentiary to Table Rock. He is amazingly fit, 6 feet tall and 145 lbs. When I've looked at that trail it looks difficult to even walk up it.
