Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

More bad weather this afternoon forced me inside for another evening TM run.  I thought the ITBS was starting to feel better until I ran again.  It's tolerable right now until I stop running when it really starts to stiffen up and ache.  I'm gonna give it a good icing tonight and see if that's more effective.  I started a new audiobook today, "What I Talk About When I Talk About Running" by Haruki Murakami.  Thus far its mildly interesting.  Its basically just the random musings of a 50 yr old novelist pondering the various stages of his passion/ambivalence toward running.  Kinda like what I do here from time to time.

2 mile warmup, 4 miles @ approx. 8:08 mi, 2+ mile cooldown.  Felt pretty good- like I could have gone a bit longer and a bit faster.

Watch that ITB. Stretch, roll it and take a break for a couple of days to let the it heal up.

So, you are having crappy weather in Boise too? We had a sneak peek at spring then winter came back!

Get well soon.

Thanks. On the pain scale its about a '2' when I run but it jumps up to a '5' or '6' as soon as I stop. Iced it, rolled it and massaged it good last night and it seems to be a little better. Probably going to take today off or just go for a light run but tomorrow I run the Iditarod...errr....Les Bois 10k. The boise foothills trails are snowed in right now and its supposed to be real cold tonight. Tomorrow should be interesting.

Wow, have fun at the Le Bois, I didn't realize it was already here! Hopefully you don't slip and slide too much on the trails!
