Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

Lunchtime run from Municipal Park past Warm Springs and back.  Beautiful weather w/ sunny skies and temp in the mid 40's.  I ran in shorts and even shed my long sleeve micro for the first time in a long time.  Didn't get into a groove until the second mile or so.  Average pace of 8:38 for the middle four miles w/ a warmup and cooldown mile.  Right knee pain is returning.  I used the foam roller for the first time in a long while last night and it seems that it will be a regular routine for me once again.

I am jealous of your weather.

Sorry about the knee pain, hope you can get it under control. Is it ITB and thus the foam roller?

Jeff,

I love visting the IF area (I'm an avid flyfisherman) and would probably have looked for a job there long ago if not for the brutally cold winters. No way I could have convinced the Mrs. to relocate. Long range forecast for the Treasure Valley looks like temps in the mid 40's for the next couple of weeks and no chance of precip til next week. Sorry. ;)

I think it's ITB, albeit self-diagnosed. The more miles I run the more it flares up. I avoid using the roller until the knee pain is bothersome enough to justify the excruciating pain from using the roller. I hate that damn thing- but it works.
