Personal:

Started running in November 2007 to get fit. Now I'm back almost to square one after back surgery. I did it once and I'll do it again.

"In truth, runners don't race other runners. They race against themselves: to conquer their wills, to transcend their weaknesses, to beat back their nightmares. And while a runner can't actually beat himself, he can beat his time. Even years into running, he can get better."  Running for His Life by Michael Hall.

Registered for Robie Creek 1/2 marathon today.  The field filled up in less than an hour and to tell you the truth I wasn't real optimistic about 15 mins into the open registration period.  After about 20 mins of hitting the refresh button I finally got in.  The powers that be switched to active.com this year due to the enormous problems they had w/ online registration process the past couple of years.

Temp run on the T/M.  Warmup, 6 miles at 8:30, and cooldown.  Legs felt great after a day off.  Did some strides at 7:24 toward the end.  I think my conditioning is almost back to where I was last summer.  Weight= 181 lbs.

Good luck at Robie. I don't think I got in this time. I was in meetings so my wife tried to register for me and errored out after entering the credit card #. I think I'll have to wait and pick up a number the night before.

Congrats on getting into Robie. Good luck with the hill training!

Thanks guys.

Court,

I wasn't sure I was in either. I was literally hitting the refresh button for twenty minutes. After I put my debit card # the confirmation page failed to load but I got a confirmation email w/ a confirmation # and I looked at my checking account and active.com has debited my account. I'm assuming I'm in? You would think that active.com would have known what they were in for given that they have the account precisely because the last online service that Robie organizers used was so ill-prepared? BTW, the Robie website says that there's always people selling numbers at the packet pickup on April 15th.

That sucks. I wasn't sure if I got in because the confirmation page didn't load either after I entered my debit card #. But I got a confirmation email immediately w/ a confirmation #, and active.com charged my account. I'm assuming I'm in? You would think that active.com would be more prepared given the fact that they got the job precisely because the last service Robie organizers used was not.
