Decided to see what race pace felt like since I haven't been running much. Great spring night and my legs felt great! Fargo marathon is Saturday. Weather guy is talking hot and windy. It is also regional track that day. We'll see. It is North Dakota. It could end up being cold and snowy. :)

Ok, so this is a week late. Right after the race, Ron and I came home took a shower, picked up Kaylie and we headed to Santa Fe for some R&R and to find some cool southwest stuff. We left our running shoes at home. Jared and Tara stayed behind cuz they needed to work. We picked up my mom in Colorado. It was a great trip and good to get away.

On to the race. My taper was not good. Things got so busy after our last long run, then a week before the race, our community suffered a huge loss in the death of a young man. His family have been long time members of the community and school and it hit the community so hard. Running just wasn't a priority. I only ran 9 miles the 2 weeks before the race.

The day was rainy, but not cold. We started at 7:30am, the wind wasn't too bad. Things started going south at about mile 3. My back cramped up and that has never happened before. At the half way point I was really hurting and since I don't wear a watch I had no idea what my pace was. By mile 8 I felt like I was running on 2 boards. My legs and back were really hurting. I was glad I wasn't running a marathon. I don't think I would have made it. I couldn't believe my time when I ran into the dome! I expected to see about 2:15 or 2:30 on the clock. Considering how I felt I was pretty happy. My pace was 8:34 and there were 235 in my age group. I was only a minute off my PR. All things considered it wasn't to bad a day. :)
