| | Our Girls On The Run had their 5K today. They all did a great job and had alot of fun. Tried to do 3 mile treadhills. About half way through I got this shooting pain in my ankle. It has been bothering me off and on. Dropped the incline and the pain went away. Weird. | Add Comment |
| | Ron left for Atlanta this morning. Tara is on her way home for the summer. I decided to stay close to home and I want to do all of my long runs on pavement from now until Oct. So that leaves 2 options. The bike path or the truck route. I chose the bike path. What started out as a breezy, misty, chilly run, ended as a driving rain, windy, cold run. I think I'll warm up by July.... maybe. | Add Comment |
| | Wow, what a night for running! The sun was brilliant as it set, the dirt is so black and the grass and trees are so green after the rain yesterday. AND there was not so much as a leaf moving. Quite a rare event for North Dakota. I think maybe we have 2 nights a year as perfect as this one. Awesome! Legs felt good. Bayly was in heaven. She hasn't been out for a run for a week. Thoughts and prayers to everyone in Mississippi, and Tennessee. | Comments(1) |
| | Tempo run. 1 mile warm up, 4 miles at 8:35 pace, 1 mile cool down. Weather has turned really ugly again. What happened to April? :( | Comments(1) |
| | Wind and rain, wind and rain. I am starting to see a trend. I don't mind wind most of the time, and rain is fine. Put the 2 together and it is ugly. So it was a mini speed workout on the dreaded treadmill. Warm up 1 mile @ 8:20 pace, bumped it up to 8:00. Short recovery 2 mile @ 8:00, short recovery 3 mile started @ 8:00 bumped it up to 7:30 pace. 'bout died, but I did it! :) Not bad for an old person. | Comments(1) |
| | Slow and easy today. My legs were tired. Lots of fresh water in the ditches. Bayly was enjoying every minute. Depending on where she decides to soak herself, she either comes home as a "mud puppy" or "swamp thing". | Comments(2) |
| | Last long run. Less than 2 weeks. I felt good. Ron struggled a little. His schedule does not allow him to run as much as I do. Ron and the kids gave me a gift card to the local garden center! Woohoo! The growing season has begun. Can't wait to get my hands dirty. | Comments(1) |
| | Ok so I am posting this on Wed. night. I planned on doing one more speed workout tonight, then kind of coast and go easy this week and next. But the way this week is going I'll be lucky to run at all. Daughter graduates from college on Saturday. We are having a small get-together here to celebrate and my flowers need to be planted, lawn mowed, weeds pulled, pots planted and it will not quit raining. I get way to OCD about this stuff. Plus I have to get 2 flower girl dresses made for Jared's wedding. Oh and squeeze work in also. :) Uhg! | Comments(1) |
| | Taper time is looking more like slacker time. Busy week. Way to busy. | Add Comment |
| | Decided to see what race pace felt like since I haven't been running much. Great spring night and my legs felt great! Fargo marathon is Saturday. Weather guy is talking hot and windy. It is also regional track that day. We'll see. It is North Dakota. It could end up being cold and snowy. :) | Add Comment |

Fargo Half-Marathon (13.1 Miles) 01:52:14, Place overall: 1043, Place in age division: 15 | | Ok, so this is a week late. Right after the race, Ron and I came home took a shower, picked up Kaylie and we headed to Santa Fe for some R&R and to find some cool southwest stuff. We left our running shoes at home. Jared and Tara stayed behind cuz they needed to work. We picked up my mom in Colorado. It was a great trip and good to get away. On to the race. My taper was not good. Things got so busy after our last long run, then a week before the race, our community suffered a huge loss in the death of a young man. His family have been long time members of the community and school and it hit the community so hard. Running just wasn't a priority. I only ran 9 miles the 2 weeks before the race. The day was rainy, but not cold. We started at 7:30am, the wind wasn't too bad. Things started going south at about mile 3. My back cramped up and that has never happened before. At the half way point I was really hurting and since I don't wear a watch I had no idea what my pace was. By mile 8 I felt like I was running on 2 boards. My legs and back were really hurting. I was glad I wasn't running a marathon. I don't think I would have made it. I couldn't believe my time when I ran into the dome! I expected to see about 2:15 or 2:30 on the clock. Considering how I felt I was pretty happy. My pace was 8:34 and there were 235 in my age group. I was only a minute off my PR. All things considered it wasn't to bad a day. :) | Add Comment |
| | Came home last night from Santa Fe. Grass is long, mosquitos are wicked, lots of water in the ditches, lots do to before Jared's wedding. Took Bayly out, she had to stay behind and was ready for a run. Time to get back in the routine. :) Twin Cities marathon will be here before I know it. | Add Comment |
