8 miles around Standley Lake at 8:00 pace again.

The little germs that have been scaling my body trying to get in as my immune system is still a little supressed from the marathon have officially set up camp in my lungs.  I have this nasty phlegm cough and lightheadedness that started setting in yesterday and is running its course.  At least I don't have any fever or body ache.  Just fatigue and an aggravating cough.  I'm pounding the vitamin C and trying to get extra rest so that those little germ dudes will break down camp and take a hike soon.

I also went to the gym this morning for pilates, stretching, and lifting.  Felt good.

Hope you get through this bug. I've found that pounding Emergen-C really shortens the duration of a sickness. I thought I was getting sick after the marathon, but it turned out to be allergies. Much better now, especially since it just rained and cleared out the air.

interesting article:

http://www.jarcet.com/articles/Vol3Iss4/Uchakin.pdf

these types of studies certainly make valid claims with solid data to back it up, but i wonder how much of a factor our marathon behaviors play in post-marathon sickness. crowded buses, POP visits, standing around in confined spaces with thousands of people, drinking water from cups handled by multiple (presumably unwashed) hands...i always feel rather "germy" after a race. it would just be interesting to know the ratio of cause---immune suppression or marathon germs? or maybe it's the bad combination...exposed to extra germs while immunosuppressed. hmmm....

i hope you can shake this quickly. maybe if you cough super-hard you will blow out the germ dudes' campfire and then they will be forced to leave.

great running today on top of everything else.
