10 miles in 7:56 pace

We had a little scare yesterday when after searching the yard and the house we couldn't find our 1 yo Ali anywhere.  Our 5yo and 4 yo mentioned that they had just run around the block without telling us they were doing that, so we immediatley knew Ali had followed them and gotten lost.  Sure enough, we ran around the block and found her in the arms of our back door neighbor, looking quite startled.  That feeling of not knowing where your child is...even if only for a few minutes...is gut wrenching.

So this morning after having nightmares of losing Ali and waking up with a severe kink in my back, I very slowly winced through 10 miles.  Every quick movement in my neck shot pain down my back and shoulder.  I just scheduled an appointment with Chiro Richey and Massage Therapist Koli to get some relief.

Oh, and I was going to do my long run today but I just decided yesterday that I'm going to do a 15 mile race this Saturday up near Nederland instead.  Aaron and I had been planning on taking the kids on a quick overnight camp trip near that area anyway, and when my friend Tony mentioned that there is a race going on that day and invited me to join him, I couldn't resist. So we'll go camp near Ned and do the race for a good long run beat down at 9,000ft.

Whew! I'm glad you found her. I know that feeling. A few years ago, when my daughter was 3 or 4, she decided that she wanted to go to dance lessons (she was not enrolled in dance lessons at the time) and headed out the door and started walking. A woman in the neighborhood found her on the street crying and picked her up, but didn't know where she belonged. My daughter started talking about the cow park (that's the common name of a park in our neighborhood, not the proper name, so only people who live in the neighborhood know that name) and so the lady drove her there and was about to call the police. I was searching frantically all over the house and my yard and decided to go check the cow park and found them there.

Good luck with getting rid of the kink in your back and with the upcoming race.

scary day. i am glad all is well. i (obviously) have never had a child go missing, but we have lost my little bro several times. the best (scariest) time was when he fell asleep in the back of our suburban. we all got out at home and my dad took off to slc with him still in the car. we couldn't find him anywhere and we were all in complete panic. we finally traced it back to the car and realized that we might have left him in there. sure enough, my dad found him there, still sleeping away, with a melted ice cream cone still in his hand. funny story now, NOT funny at the time. he still can sleep like a rock anytime, anywhere. funny kid.

good luck this saturday. i assume it is a trail race?

Scary!!! The thing that really drives me crazy about scary experiences with my kids is when my brain won't leave it alone but keeps reliving the event coming up with worse and worse endings by the minute. I hope you get some relaxation and relief. Good luck on Sat.

My heart always stops for a minute when I can't find someone. Hooray for finding her safe and sound! Good luck on the race!
