I think that Lori Laney must have accidentally put 2:45 on her registration form instead of 3:45 for her goal time. Her athlinks race results do not reveal that she is on the cusp of running 2:45.
What is the Utah record for the marathon? Do you know? That would be awesome to see it fall on the men's side. Its probably in the 2:30s for the women, though en?

Utah record as in the fastest time run in Utah? Dorota Gruca 2:30:07 in 2005 Salt Lake. I remember that one because I had a bad race, she passed me around 15, I tried to hang on, told her there was a bonus for the course record, then she was gone, I could not keep up.
In the sense of the fastest time by a woman from Utah - Maggie Chan-Roper 2:35:49. And incidentally I remember that race as well in the wrong way as well. She and Lyudmila Korgchagina came up close enough to me around 20 to where I heard somebody say - good job Maggie! So I knew I was in trouble, but then I just saw Korchagina but no Maggie. I wanted to be a gentlemen and block the wind for her. But she was going too fast. So I had only one option - draft. It was embarrassing, but being dropped would have been more embarrassing. With about 0.5 to go she saw she had the race won and eased up a bit. I saw a runner in front of me (Theo Martin) and figured he might be in 10th, in which case he is worth the money, and pushed to catch up to him. I did not make it, and he was in 12th anyway, but the push kept my chick score at 0. Kortchagina ended up with the second fastest time run in Utah (first at that time) of 2:30:41.
