I would like to be able to keep up with my daughter.  The one who runs xc, not the one who's going to change the world through dance.  Although I would like to be able to dance also, so I change that to me wanting to be able to keep up with both my daughters.

Ran!  And learned a new way to tie my shoes.  I can't wait to show the girls.  Since they'll both be teenagers by the time I see them, they probably won't think it's much of a big deal.

2 mile warm up

3x800s (3:08, 3:10, 3:02) Legs felt heavy

Walked the recovery 400s, but thought about running them

1 mile cool down

Delayed-onset muscle soreness did not delay

One set of Push/pulls per hour throughout the day 8 sets total

30 min Spin

Nice work out! I'm interested in this new shoe tying technique

From montelepsy on Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 23:36:41

:) You must be as boring as I am! Yay for being interested about shoe-tying techniques.

I read about it on the runners' world website, but I can't remember what it's called. The ethan knot maybe?

From what I can tell it doesn't do anything special, you can just tie your shoes faster. And the loops are more symmetrical.

Symmetrical loops... now you are speaking my language. :o). Yes, I am a total nerd! it's faster huh? I didn't know the standard bunny through the rabbit hole technique was all that slow.

Apparently, it's the Ian knot and it's more secure than the bunny technique.

From Camille on Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 23:52:32

LOL... so it's for losers like me that don't tie their shoes right before a run and end up having to tie them in the middle of the race.

From montelepsy on Mon, Jan 12, 2009 at 23:55:12

It's gonna shave precious seconds off your next race, or minutes depending on how slow you tie your shoes in the first place.

From fly on the wall on Tue, Jan 13, 2009 at 09:56:18

Knot, snot. What color are your laces?

Welcome back to running, but sorry it's not closer to home. Nice speed on those intervals.

From kungfublonde on Tue, Jan 13, 2009 at 11:51:34

Honey... they are already teenagers. That denial is lasting you a long time!

I'm glad you were able to run. And even more glad that you have discovered the joy of artful shoe-tying. If you focus your chi on your perfectly symetrical laces, it could be a very zen experience...

From montelepsy on Tue, Jan 13, 2009 at 12:47:11

Hey Mark, good to hear from you. My laces are a boring white. My thighs are paying for the speedwork. Do you know what the difference between threshold and VO2 Max is?

Hon,

Twelve is not two-teen, but I suppose kids in general aren't interested in knots. Most people I suppose are knot.

Get it I said "knot" instead of not. It was a joke.

From fly on the wall on Tue, Jan 13, 2009 at 17:43:50

I'm knot an expert but I've a general idea on lactate threshold and VO2 Max. I'm guessing these were VO2 Max repeats and that your white laces matched your white tights to complete the ensemble with your Flamingo Pink Vomeros. Sorry Monte, but it's that fabulous running shoe collection that's got me running off at the mouth (and if there was anything even a bit mousy about you, I'd keep my mouth shut).

Foot in mouth,

Fly

You should see the tights I wear with my moonboots.

okay... so you say stuff like that... but you don't post pictures. Now I need a picture!
