I would like to be able to keep up with my daughter.  The one who runs xc, not the one who's going to change the world through dance.  Although I would like to be able to dance also, so I change that to me wanting to be able to keep up with both my daughters.

Fun in the AZ sun.  It was unseasonalbly cool from what I hear.

Ran 3 miles under 21 on a track without a watch.

Swam some and ran some more, but lost track of the distance.

Bonnie and Dean picked me up afterward and took me out for dinner.

They were great to hang out with.  High energy and lots of smiles.  I do hope they make it out our way for a visit.  The girls would love them.

Thanks for making my visit to Arizona even more memorable :)

Marion, you don't know the half of it. Kungfublonde sent me a link to what he was really doing. He makes is sound like it was just another workout, but it was an intense intense (did I say that already?) tryout for pararescue jumpers.

Yeah, it was about 9 hours of "intense intenseness" :)

I sent it to a few bloggers but I'm not sure if my private messages went through. I emailed it to you and Bonnie, Burt, and you are the only two bloggers who replied.

Mike is the guy who used to watch Fear Factor and think it looked fun.

Oh MY GOSH! I watched the videos you sent Rachel! HOLY COW! So what came of the torture and beatings???

From kungfublonde on Mon, Jun 15, 2009 at 18:30:32 from 64.203.113.50

Well, a lot more torture and beatings, and then hopefully he will have his dream career as a professional hero. Right now he's only my hero :)

Okay. But what happens if he gets the job? Does he (you guys) have to move to Tucson? Or does he have to go wherever it is that special ops go?

From kungfublonde on Mon, Jun 15, 2009 at 19:00:13 from 64.203.113.50

No, California girl is staying in California :)

When he starts working there, it will only be until a job in CA opens up and then he will transfer. So no need to sell the house and uproot the kids. If we knew for sure that he would be there for an extended period, that would be different. But it really could just be a matter of months. Once he lands somewhere for GOOD, we'll pull out the moving boxes, because of course we saved them :) We have lived in this house for 3 years and the kids are going a little stir-crazy being in one place for so long!

When he goes back in Sept the girls and I are going with him. And we have a date with Bonnie for Sedona in the spring! You'll have to meet up with us at some point. Maybe join Mike for his next hazing? :)

If by hazing you mean that brutal beating he just took, I will not be joining him for that. But I might like to watch it. In fact, I would very much enjoy that. Sedona is a fun place. I've only really been to Oak Creek Canyon, but that gets more visitors per year than the Grand Canyon.

Hey guys,

It was challenging. It would have been less intense if I was able to relax more. There were times when I could have rested, but ended up freaking out instead. Panic does that :) And the instructors were good at making me panic. I figure the key is not to quit. And I didn't but my body did at the end.

The article was a bit off. We didn't start exercising until around 7. We had a 40 minute break for lunch and we stopped around 3 or 4. I stopped closer to 3. Or my body did. I wasn't able to complete the last run. In fact, I wasn't able to sit up to put my shoes on due to cramping in my arms, legs and abs :)

If I get the job (I was invited to tryout again, which is better than being told not to come back) then I'll be stationed in Tucson while I go to training which lasts for 18-24 months. Between classes I'll be taking leave to see the ladies.

It was a good experience overall and I would love to work with those guys.

Thanks for being so supportive in me following my dream Rachel.

Wait, 18 to 24 Months?? I thought you said 7 weeks!!

You've made a dream or two of mine come true, so this seems only fair :)

it also seems silly to write to you on the blog when you're in the same country. In the front yard trimming a tree, to be exact.

From montelepsy on Thu, Jun 25, 2009 at 01:20:26 from 64.203.113.50

It's the kind of silly I like!
