Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Went to the Metallica concert last night.  They were excellent. Their warm up acts were not so great, but Metallica is the best rock band ever.  My favorite numbers were Master of Puppets (my all time favorite song of theirs) and Back to the Front (I forgot all about this song, haven't heard it in over a decade, but it was so good).  It was a workout just being at the concert, even though I wasn't on the floor with all the crazy's.  All the head banging should count for some cross training.  My neck is sore from it!

Ok, so I got to bed at 1am, so I slept in until 7:20 then did canning in the morning, then voted (rock on - Obama is winning!), then ran after taking my son to preschool.  I started just after noon.  It was rainy/snowy, but not too cold.  I listened to NPR all day since it's such a monumental day.

Tempo run tomorrow, probably in the snow.

You went to a Metallica concert and voted for Obama? You better be careful because your BYU degree may be revoked. I have a new found respect for you.

How fun! I would totally go to Metallica if they came to Phoenix!...And I voted for Obama too.

I cried last night. And I found president-elect Obama's speech articulate, inspiring, and gracious. I also liked seeing the "real" John McCain again.

The picture of you with a "neck" injury because of a Metallica concert is funny to me - see if Dr. Brady has a magic cure - otherwise you might have to do months of PT to rid yourself of that overuse injury ;-)!

OBAMA for the WIN alright! :) Man it must be a western thing to got to the doc so much! The docs around these parts have it all wrong! They should invest out there!
