Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Ran with MacK.  Nothing too eventful except for it being way too cold for the first morning in April (20 degrees).

That is way too cold, whats up with that?! Hey only 17 days left!

From Mark on Tue, Apr 01, 2008 at 09:23:00

You are right, that is way too cold! I'd send some Florida temps if I could. It's good to have a Tuesday-12-mile-nothing-too-eventful-run, those can be the best.

Thanks Marcie! I can't wait!

Mark-yes I just am lucky to not be feeling any pain!

Man that IS cold! I woke up and found out today it's supposed to be thunderstorms, but high of 65!!! first day since that freak day in January it's been this warm :)

From Lybi on Wed, Apr 02, 2008 at 15:25:11

Sorry, Michelle--I left the computer unattended mid-comment and my 3 year old finished it for me. Yikes! I was planning on wearing shorts and a T-shirt for the Provo half, should I be thinking long sleeves and running pants instead? What are you going to wear?

From Sasha Pachev on Wed, Apr 02, 2008 at 15:59:17

It looks from the forecast like we are going to get about 35-40 degrees. For me this is a shorts weather when racing. Possibly long sleeves, but more likely just a racing jersey.

Russians would say "3 degrees of warmth" meaning it is +3C. -3C would be "three degrees of cold". +30C would be "30 degrees of heat", and -10C "10 degrees of frost"

Lybi-I thought it was your April Fools joke on me. I will bring shorts and tights, a long sleeve and a short sleeve. I will do about a one mile warm up, which makes stripping down to shorts a possibility. I'll just have to bring a bag of clothes and be flexible. I am excited you are coming!
