Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

I ran about 3.5 miles, with three strides, and then I met MacK and ran 5 with her, and then ran enough at the end to get 12, with three more strides.  I went up and down Salem Canal road more times today than I care to in a week.  My strides felt pretty good.  Maybe my legs might come back to me.  Hams and foot feeling better after being worked on yesterday.

8:19 ave pace, 6 strides total.

I thought I had a lot of aches and pains... I think I saw you this morning on canal road but it was to dark to tell, I was the one crawling along the pavement!

Keep up the good work, you are doing great;-D

I thought I would see you since all I did basically was go up and down that dang road all morning, but I didn't see you either. This morning was dark, but it seemed even darker yesterday, but I was on different streets so maybe that was why.

I am really intrigued by all the hard work you put in. I get excited to think that I could really improve by adding more miles. I dream about doing an under 3 hour marathon even if it is 2:59:59. My biggest challenge is finding people to go with early in the morning. For me and my family that is about my only option right now. Anyway, I am too chicken to run in the AM only. Do you ever and if so what precautions do you take?
