Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Slept in until 5:32 then ran with Marion.  We warmed up for just over a mile, then started into a 3 mile tempo, with negative splitting and about 10 min pace as a goal.  Well, we chatted too much in the first mile (I was running with Marion, so between the two of us there was a whole lot of talking going on!).  Mile 1 - 10:43, Mile 2 - 10:18, Mile 3 - 9:36.  So great negative splitting.  Marion really turned it on the last mile, doing surges, hand slapping and a kick at the end.  Very nice!  It's always fun to get together with her, she's a hoot.   Good job Marion!

2 miles on my own after.  The morning seemed to get colder and colder as I ran.  I should have worn gloves.

Dude, you are in such big trouble for mentioning the tucked in shirt. Don't broadcast my fashion faux pas to the world!!!!

Here's what I did when I got home--ran a hot bath, stretched and made oatmeal while the tub filled. Ate my hot oatmeal while I was in the hot bath. My core temperature was better than a corpse in no time.

Sorry Michelle, but you were SO HOT!!!! I am going to tuck in just so I can be like you. The visor to look like Kerri WAlsh and the tuck in to be Michelle! :) I'll be the hottest blogger in no time. Alright, the second hottest, after you my dear!!!

I just got out of the bath. I ran it all the way hot. Nice:) I had an egg white omlette with red onions, tomatoes, avocado, salsa and a smidge of FF sour cream & cheese! TASTY!!! but i bet your oatmeal was good too :) Lehi roller mills has been out of my favorite 6 grain ceral and I am really irritated!

I just started tracking my weight on my blog. It is making me crazy! Does it make you crazy to track yours?

I weigh myself every day anyway but I can't decide if I like the whole world knowing my weight.

From MichelleL on Thu, Oct 16, 2008 at 18:51:03

Britta - I track it for my own information, not for the whole world. Considering talented carnies can guess our weight supposedly within 3 or 5 pounds, I figure there's not much to hide. I do get embarrassed when it spikes up, but I figure its useful information I may want later. Plus knowing I have to post my weight SOMETIMES helps me not eat bad stuff.
