Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Good to see you this morning. Glad to know that I am not the only one who flushed my ideas of good eating down the toilet this weekend!! How far do you plan on going this Saturday? Are you going with the group?

From kellies on Tue, Sep 23, 2008 at 01:06:31

Tyler is going to be gone hunting so I want to have a game plan. I think the Heidi's are going and JaNae may be going too. But I thought if the group was going I may try to meet up with them. Then again, I may actually allow myself to sleep in and not go until 7:00am, now wouldn't that be nice!?!

Kellie- I went to the BYU game and ate too much food there. But on Sunday I made homemade bread instead of baking and had that for dessert at a family get together. I thought that was being way good, but not running my normal miles means I need to cut back on calories. Regarding Saturday, I will be up at Midway for a work retreat, which means I get to sleep in and run with my husband. A rarity.

It's okay, normal for that matter, to put on a few pounds before a marathon. You will lose it all during the race.

Oh, I am glad that you get to run with your hubby, that is always fun!! I am also glad that you get to go to Midway, that is fun!! But more importantly, I am glad that you got to indulge in some homemade bread, there are few things that good!! I too would think that Homemade bread for dessert would be a good thing, crazy that it isn't!! I made homemade oreo cookies for Sunday dessert and proceeded to eat one yesterday as well. I need to quit eating this way, really, I have no idea what has come over me!!
