Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

Slept in and ran after the kids went to school. Wanted 14 miles in 1:45, so made sure I kept around 7:30. 1:46 total run, 7:25 ave pace.

PM: PT appt, worked on left arch, which bugged in the 5th mile of my run this morning, and SI joint, which had tweaked a couple of times in the run, and hamstring. Paul was there getting PT at the same time, we drove down together--a PT date

Hey Michelle, I would love to start running with you again here and there, but I am not sure what your slowest pace is. :) I need to get back to a bit faster outside so I can join you.

Hey Michelle! I talked with you about running the Utah Valley course on Saturday...we decided to run Emigration Canyon to BCC up in SLC instead b/c it is a similar course. You are still more than welcome to join (I'm doing 16, Jake is doing 24), but that's quite a haul for you!

Merri-we'd be glad to have you. I generally do easy runs around 7:30-8:00 pace, but some of my afternoon recovery runs are a bit slower. I'm not sure where you are right now, but you could come out with us and have it be your hard run on some of our easy runs (like marathon pace). I'll make sure you're on my email list.

Andrea-thanks for letting me know. You're right, that's quite a haul for me, but keep me in mind if you come down and train in Utah County. Nice race on Saturday!

Yes I am on your email list. I'll do a few runs outside this week and see what my pace is and let you know when I can join you. :) Thanks.
