Personal:

I used to run for BYU, but only after trying out three times and finally walking on, so I was never a star. However, it was wonderful to run with great people and under Coach Shane. When you run with fast people, you can't help to improve! I graduated BYU in 1998, and didn't run a race until 2002, after having my second child. My hiatus and other crazy life commitments have made my competitive running suffer, but the last couple of years I have tried to get back into it the best I can. I have been married since 1996, to Paul Lowry, who is a runner himself. I have three boys (my three rascals), ages 12, 10, and 8.

After a great 2008 season, I was injured and eventually diagnosed and cross-diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis, a type of arthritis disease, which precludes running for all but the most stubborn.  So I am on medications, trying to stay healthy, and seeing my PT often.  And running!  Now beating the streets in Hong Kong.

After three crummy airline hours of sleep on a red eye flight from Hawaii to Oakland, I had 4.5 hour layover in Oakland.  I lay on the hard ground with industrial carpet in the airport, with constant blaring of important security announcements and boarding calls for about an hour, then put my running clothes on and hit the road for an easy run.  I was pretty delirious from the lack of sleep.  My trouble area was definitely troubling me from .5 miles to 2 miles, then it loosened up.  This is becoming the annoying norm.  I hit a bike trail, but it was only a 1.5 mile stretch so I did it a couple of times and called it good.

Sounds like you had the same type of problems with flying as me! I'm definitely glad to be home. Now time to go out for an easy 5 or 6 because even though I have a 25k tomorrow I know that I'm way out of shape from my vacation! No more slacking :) and plus I know that if I posted I didn't really feel like getting out there today you'd be like Benn go out and run.. I don't want to see anything less than 10 lol.
