Hiked Timp Friday night/Saturday morning.  Fourteen or so miles, two blisters, a sunburned forehead, and WAY too many people on the trail--it's good to be home.  It was a might cooler up there though!

Spent the night at Emerald Lake, and at 4:00 a.m. I was awakened by the sound of lots and lots of people working their way up both the Timpooneke and Aspen Grove trails.  As I looked over towards the saddle, there was a constant and steady stream of flashlights.  Not too much longer those lights appeared 1300 feet above my bed at the peak.  There had to have been at least 100 people up there at the top for the sunrise this morning!

Saw more mountain goats on this trip than I have on all my previous trips combined!

Teena and I were talking about the Timp hike! Dang those flashlights disturbing your peace! Did you see any meteors? Was the sunrise spectacular? How cool to see so many mountain goats.

No mention of any doinks....good sign!!!

Like Smooth said, we were just talking about that hike this morning!!!! Little did we know, you were there!!!!

Funny, I have heard of so many doing that as of late.

I'll need to put that on my *must-do* list! :)

Awesome!!! So, did you backpack in and spend the night or drive up? I'm not familiar at all with that area. Someday I hope to make it up there.

From Maynard on Sun, Aug 15, 2010 at 01:26:33 from 71.213.44.67

DoG: yeah, we backpacked in the five miles from the trailhead to the lake Friday night and then went the 2 miles to the peak Saturday morning. Most folks that make the hike do it all in one fell swoop though. Good times!

Let me know if you do go back up! :)

This 'studly-mountain-goat' is feeling a bit apprehensive about the upcoming TOU and SGM.

Hey Bradley my friend! How are you feeling, besides apprehensive?

Any updates? How's the calf and achilles?

I am thinking about coming up to Logan and wait at the mouth of the canyon like I did last year and run someone to the finish. I sure hope you'll be there! Sure miss ya!
