I ran 5 miles on the road this morning. I wish I had my yak trax on because it was very ice and slushy and snowy every where I ran.  The workout seemed twice as hard and I never felt like my legs loosened up. The downhill helped the muscles a bit, but I still had to run very slowly to not fall. The last two miles were in a headwind and felt very cold! The temperature also dropped 2 degrees while I was out there.

Chickened out and came inside an ran the last mile on the treadmill.

Packing up the puppy now to head up north to show my sister how to weight lift and meet her new puppy and watch Spirit of the Marathon with her.

Sounds like an awesome day!!

Nice job on the run ... enjoy the time with your sis!

Sounds like a cold six miles, mine was hard to, like running in the sand, but we did it! Have fun with your sis.

Yes- you get extra points and miles for running in the sludge. You are a warrior! I think I am going to go get Run Fat Boy Run! My runner sister-in-law said it was hilarious! Let me know how the spirit of the Marathon is.

I didn't actually stay to watch the movie. I saw it when it was in the theaters and loved it.

Stopped at Striders and bought 2 new pairs of shoes, some more gu and treats to try, and some running studs that you screw into any running shoes you want to.

From Marion on Sat, Jan 03, 2009 at 21:17:23

Yeah for new treats and shoes! I am loving mine. Waht did you get?

From tarzan on Sat, Jan 03, 2009 at 21:18:36

Another pair each of last year's model of Brooks Advantage and Wave Alchemys.

Cool. I always get the same kind. I am so boring and inexperienced! I bought the softest and squishiest ones. Mizuno wave riders. They made me want to keep running when I was testing them out at the store :)

From tarzan on Sat, Jan 03, 2009 at 21:22:22

I don't even try on the shoes anymore - I always buy the same brands too.

The studs that go in your running shoes are cool. I can't wait to try them out.

Ice and snow, EVIL!!! But it was pretty this morning---better than the dirty stuff we had left over from last week!

From Smooth on Sun, Jan 04, 2009 at 00:45:33

Wow, you were very brave to run in the iceee and cold snow. It was very windy here and we had snow drifts everywhere. I would have to wear snowshoes to "walk" . Good job.

Good run. I went out in the ice and slush too, decided I had enough when 3 cars came within arms reach.

I saw Spirit of the Marathon in the Theater also. Good movie. Is it available on DVD/rent?

From tarzan on Sun, Jan 04, 2009 at 16:07:39

Jon - don't know if you can rent it, but the DVD is available online. I got mine at Wasatch Running.

Yeah - I had one car do a close one - but not from ice - just inattention.
