.5 miles this morning with Twilight before work

The plan was to run at lunchtime, but I was told I had to be available for a meeting and never got called in.

.6 warmup jogging with Twilight.

5.7 miles - ran the first 5, then walked .7 when the knee started twinging. I did 7 sets of intervals, running fast for 1 minute, then recovery run for 4 minutes.  The last interval I pooped out at 45 seconds, so decided that was enough for the day.

Mile 1: 10:12 (best 6:51)/Mile 2: 10:14 (best 7:28)/Mile 3: 10:27 (best 7:08)/Mile 4 11:43 (slowed down to keep my knee from hurting)/Mile 5: 12:03

1.0 miles cooldown with the puppy - she wanted to run the entire last half mile.  While I was on this portion, another runner stopped and asked me if I was on the blog (I was wearing my FRB shirt). It was Darkhorse/Steve.  Nice to meet you Steve!  Thanks for introducing yourself.

My 'plan' for this week is to run 3 days, cross train 3 days.

Great job listening to your body and working on recovery! It will come soon, just keep doing what your doing. Always fun to meet fellow bloggers - in person that is :) Enjoy the warmth!

Maurine, I just read your report on the 50 miler (I'm a little slow). I have to say, you are one tough cookie! I'm too chicken to sign up for such an event, my hats off to you for taking the challenge and I'm SURE you learned more about yourself and you will make it next time! Your awesome!

Thanks, Jon.

I like the challenges involved in the longer races (although this would have been my longest). I don't have any natural speed - I am working on improving that - but I have always had good endurance compared to the average person and marathons and ultras appeal to that part of me.

I'm just hoping I stopped early enough that I will recover quick enough to enjoy the rest of the season.

I'm sure you will enjoy the rest of the season. You were very smart to pull out and save yourself for another day. You could have ruined the whole summer. Smart thing to stop.

Maurine,

NICE intervals and SMART listening to the knee. How fun to run with puppy and meet a fellow blogger.

I am surprised you are doing so many miles so soon, I thought the plan was to take off 2 weeks. Be careful you dynamo you!

You are SO smart and CUTE!! I love your new picture :) The biggest challenge to staying a runner, is figuring out how to treat our bodies :)
