My joining this blog has been a long time coming. I finally joined (and it will surprise many of you that I actually did). This is quite the step forward for me.  I have never joined any online social anything.  I don't even have a facebook page (I know... totally old-fashioned).  My profile has some details from my past.

For my first post, I want to express appreciation to all of you who have helped me in the still-building process of dragging my rear end back in shape. I cannot thank you enough!  I have learned a great deal from many of you.  I owe a special thanks to my Utah County training crew who put up with my need to do 5am runs. Also, for some reason, certain fellow runners have been calling me "puma." Maybe it's because I remind them of the first 2 letters spelled a different way. At any rate, I've decided to embrace the nickname and roll with it (hence the title of my blog).

Had a great run with a great crew at Jordan River Parkway in Riverton this past Saturday.  Some did 20 miles.  I cut it short at 15 miles to play it safe because of some hamstring irritation.  I felt great and strong.  Could definitely have kept going.  What an honor to be part of such a talented group!  Really enjoyed our conversations and the miles flew by because of them.

This morning I did an easy 10-mile loop from Scott's house in Highland with Scott, Reed, Mike, and Toni.  This evening I did hamstring and upper-body weights.

Hooray! Nice 10 today! Thank you for constantly pushing and boosting me each and every week. It is awesome running with you and it's going to be something special when you are crushing it in the not so distant future ;).

Oh wow. Welcome to the blog! I guess we will have to stop making stuff up now that we have a REAL doctor on the blog. I look forward to more early morning runs with Team Utah County.

Fritz: Keep making stuff up. I will as well :)

Chad: Good point! Time to trim the love handles.

Brandon: Likewise. It is always a blast running with you as well. I appreciate your optimism.

Welcome to the blog, you have quite a good crew to run with in your area.

Matt, welcome to the blog. I don't have facebook either ;)

You're in great shape and have some great training partners, I look forward to watching your progress.

The long awaited FRB debut of Matt P is upon us - maybe the Mayans were right after all?!?!

Now we get to talk about running on our morning runs as well as on the blog--some may say we are a bit overboard :-) You didn't tell me about your blog name this morning. Puma! I like it. It reminds me of a popular cartoon back in the day, Bravestar. Eyes of the hawk, ears of the wolf, strength of the bear, speed of the PUMA!

You can now start writing about how you are kicking our early-morning trash.

BTW - The rest of ya'all can give the Doc heck if he doesn't take care of his hammies. Stubborn and competitive to the core :-)

Riley: Wow! I can't believe I've met another person who doesn't have a facebook account. Yes, we have a great training group. You obviously do as well.

Jake: Well, you figured me out! I just didn't think you would so soon. It's all about the Mayans. Just wait until you see what I have planned for 12/21/12.

Scott: Guilty as charged. And don't be fooled everyone -- Scott is the one kicking our early-morning trash. As you all know, he's in great shape!
