Personal:

I am 26 years old. I am the Production Coordinator for all visual communications for Kiawah Island Real Estate. I've been a runner since high school, and I have a competitive nature that should explain my high mileage. I challenge myself to accomplish what I never imagined I could do, and I try to encourage myself and others to push their limits. I'm usually late to parties and social gatherings, since I have to get the run in first...(but luckily, I have great friends who acknowledge my routine). I suffered a bad case of plantar fasciitis March of 2010, and I picked up cycling/spinning while I recovered. Surprisingly, I totally loved it. I only ran on a whim or on weekends, or on vacation days when my gym was closed. This fall, I finally got back into the swing of things and started racing again. I'll try to update my races and runs more frequently. I'd like to be where I was 2 years ago....12 miles a day...I mean...what?!?! =)

Mary,

I think this is extremely impressive mileage. I rarely approach 100+ I guess I am just to injury prone. When I come to SC Charleston in May I might have to go running with you. When is your next race? With all those miles those times have got to be continuing to come down. Since I have not said it before Welcome to the blog. .

Hey Matt, thanks for the welcome!

I'm lucky that I'm not prone to injuries. I think consistency is key. I don't do speed workouts or even strength training because I find that my body doesn't like surprises and routine is key. I try to keep my shoes young and I run on a flat solid surface every day. I always run at a very comfortable pace, about a 9 minute mile. Racing of course is much different once adrenaline takes over.

As for races, I should really run more but I tend to stick to races closer to home to avoid traveling. One day, I'll expand my horizons, but at this point all of my racing is done solo, and I don't enjoy traveling alone. My biggest race coming up is the Kiawah Island Half marathon. I should probably be running the full, but I want to see if I can conquer the half first.

If you make your way to Charleston, let me know! I'm usually a solo runner, but that doesn't mean we can't meet up for a chat.
