Personal:

I am 26 years old. I am the Production Coordinator for all visual communications for Kiawah Island Real Estate. I've been a runner since high school, and I have a competitive nature that should explain my high mileage. I challenge myself to accomplish what I never imagined I could do, and I try to encourage myself and others to push their limits. I'm usually late to parties and social gatherings, since I have to get the run in first...(but luckily, I have great friends who acknowledge my routine). I suffered a bad case of plantar fasciitis March of 2010, and I picked up cycling/spinning while I recovered. Surprisingly, I totally loved it. I only ran on a whim or on weekends, or on vacation days when my gym was closed. This fall, I finally got back into the swing of things and started racing again. I'll try to update my races and runs more frequently. I'd like to be where I was 2 years ago....12 miles a day...I mean...what?!?! =)

As much as I encourage exercise, I can't stand the New Year's resolution crowds at the gym.

I hate to be in your spot.. don't worry they won't be there for long, give them another week maybe? hehe

Yeah, I'm thinking they're all gung-ho this week, but the crowds will thin out next week. They also take up all the parking spots. But I let them have it when I lap them 60 times on the track. Muahaahaha!

It makes me laugh to drive by any gym and see all the cars there knowing that in a month from now over half of them won't be there any more.

Hahaa I love how cynical we all are. :)

Can't blame me. I'm to cheap to get a gym membership :)

From Running on Full on Thu, Jan 07, 2010 at 10:26:09 from 208.60.95.30

Me too actually. My membership was a Christmas gift from my paranoid parents who didn't like me running in the dark. But even if you did have a gym membership, at least I know you would be a committed member!

We have a bunch of fast courses along the coast, but a lot of those races are kind of lame. If you're just looking for a race and a vacation all in one weekend, I've got a couple for you. The first is in Myrtle Beach. I've never run it, but I was actually thinking about doing it this year because a friend of mine is attempting the half and he wants me to go visit. It's coming up in February. Myrtle Beach is about 2 hours north of Charleston: http://www.mbmarathon.com/site3.aspx

The race that I recommend is the Kiawah Island Marathon in December. I just did the half. It's a really fast course, and the weather is usually mild. This race fills up quickly, and registration is at the beginning of August. Kiawah is about a 40 minute drive from downtown Charleston. This race is really popular, but surprisingly, a lot of people don't know about it! http://www.kiawahresort.com/recreation/marathon/

The second race sounds interesting and by the looks of it, it does fill up. :/ THANKS for the info!
