Personal:

Married to Elizabeth (she got me running in 2003). We have three boys, Lucas (12) , Sam (8) and Ollie (5).

Many years ago, I read that the AVERAGE male is capable of a 2:40 marathon.  I decided to test that theory.  I began running in 2003 with Top of Utah as my first marathon (4:24).  I need 3 more minutes.

A fun race in wet conditions today.  I started off wanting to race it, but after the heavy rain early in the race and a few porta potty stops it became a seriously hard training run.

The highlight of the race was running with Joe Wilson the first few miles.  It was also cool running with the top three woman finishers.  I would catch a different one after each porta-potty!

I still managed 4th in my age division.  The results say 5th, but there is an obvious error that the race officials should correct.  There is a guy that ran a 1:48 half then a 1:10 2nd half...really?  I think this guy made the beeline for the finish and skipped the turns.

It was great talking with all the bloggers and I'm looking forward to St. George in 2 weeks!

One more thing...I suck on the tangents for this course...my race mileage was 26.5.  Anyone else?

it was nice running with you for a bit today -- that was sure a rowdy pace group but i had a fun time :)

sorry about the porta potty stops, but nice job keeping a good attitude about it and adjusting your race plans accordingly. good luck at SGM in a couple of weeks.

about the tangents -- we definitely weren't running them well with the giant group we had.

Nice job on a tough course. You did great! Dont fret the small stuff. When you get the porta potti issues out of the way and better temps you can easily rock your times. I wanted to do this race but want a shot at Japan so Im saving my legs for Pepi Peterson if he shows this year at SGM. See you soon my friend!

If SGM is your goal race then you made the right decision to back off and use this as a training run. Still a great time.

A 3:04 training run? I'm speechless.

Allie-Great race in the cold and rain! Congratulations! I wish I could have stayed with the group. See you in Sugar House park.

Walter-I'm sure Pepi will be there. See you in St. George.

Andy-Minus the honey bucket issues, I ran a very good first half. I feel pretty confident about St. George. Are you running it this year?

Kam-It probably was too fast, but you kind of get sucked up into the race. Congrats on your race!

Nice race. I will see you in two weeks. SGM should be a great race.

Great run, especially with adverse conditions! I was in the pace group too, so I guess we ran together for a bit.:) Good luck at SGM!

Matt--lets hope for a chilly start with no rain!
