Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Sub 40:00 10K
  • 2:59 Marathon
  • 1:25 Half Marathon
  • 18:30 5K

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.

Personal:

Dad of  three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.

I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.

(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.

I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:

Forward Progress!

Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Grateful Blog

Love living in Florida but love to travel and see the country and rest of the world.

Ran from Foxwood, over to Lake Dan Trail and almost to the end before turning back.  Finished up with 6x100m strides just down the street from my house.

(or 6.5 mi, 50:15, 7:43 avg based on treadmill)

Treadmill run in Austin, TX.  Used garmin on "indoor running" mode so I could get heart rate information.  At slower paces, treadmill and garmin matched but as I went faster, the garmin pace stayed the same, until toward the end I started exaggerating my arm swing and then they matched up, if I exaggerated even more, the garmin would say I was going faster than what I had the treadmill set to.

Either way, I didn't really matter because I ran what I ran, but still it was interesting and gave me something to do while running on a treadmill!

Day 2 treadmill in Austin.  Up a little bit later than planned and said yes to that one last drink, but still managed to get on the treadmill for a little bit.  Poor choices, but not a complete disaster.

Back home from trip, ran from Foxwood, over to the Lake Dan trail for a little bit over 2 miles, then turned around and came home.  Kept the pace easy.

Short, out and back run from Westlake Village, out the south entrance via the cut through and then over to the Pinellas Trail, heading north for a little bit until reaching about 2.5 miles, then turned around and headed back.

Then, headed out to Holloway Park in Lakeland for the regionals cross country meet. It was pretty nice weather, good day for a race.  I left the house a little bit too late and miscalculated the traffic so I just barely made it in time.  It was something like, park, run from the car to the entrance, pay the entry and as I'm getting my change I hear the gun go off and see the runners start, heading up the hill.

Ran over to the 1 mile marker and met up with Jenny.  Saw Tom come through at about 5:20 on the clock, looking strong.  Next, rushed over to the part of the course about 2.2 miles in, Tom still looking strong, running close by to Jacob U.

Then, quickly over to the finish area.  Tom comes through at 17:32.32, 3rd place for the team and 22nd overall.  The last time he ran this course his time was 17:32.73, but his last two races were 18:55 and 18:10, so this was a pretty big comeback.  More importantly, the team scored a 4th place finish, with the top 8 teams going to state finals.  They'd pulled it off, Mitchell was going to state for first time in 8 years.

Easyish, nice, Saturday morning run in Starkey.  Got to say hi to the remnants of the Striders that were packing up and getting ready to leave after the group run, then saw Jenny just as I was about to head out.

I'm going to run a 5k tomorrow but wanted to get in at least a few miles today and enjoy the park.
