Long-Term Running Goals: Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.
I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.
Personal: Dad of three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.
I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.
(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.
I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:
Forward Progress!
Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Monday morning pretty good run, from my house, out to SR54 and a side trip over to Longleaf to use the fountain outside the pool, then back across 54, then Starkey Gap Trail over to Robert Trent Jones, then back home via Tamarind.

Two different sized loops inside Westlake Village and then up and down the street to make 6 miles.

Similar route to Monday, but instead of turning back when I got to the Longleaf Pool, I ran down Towne Ave and ran around the square near the mail boxes, then started heading back.
A little bit faster and farther than yesterday.

A little bit farther but slightly slower than yesterday. Back to doing loops inside Westlake Village. There was a little bit of rain and started to get what felt like a blister on one of my toes. Effort was probably a little bit harder than it should have been for an "easy run" but overall not bad.
Jessica (and baby) and Jacob headed up to FSU late in the afternoon to go look at the school, Jacob's dad was also going so the girls stayed back, they are not usually at the house on Thursday's. Cooked dinner of meatballs and pasta and then made cookies for dessert but the cookie sheet had mysterously vanished so made them in a muffin tin which worked out great. I went to bed feeling like I ate too much. Didn't stay up too late as I had to leave at 7:00 to get the older girl to school on time

Up and down the street in Westlake Village. After the early morning school dropoff I went back to sleep for a little bit. Got back up and stuck close by until A was waiting for the bus and then saw the bus leave. Slowed it down a bit today. Poor recovery after eating too much last night, but felt better with some easy-ish running.
Going to go for another 16 miles tomorrow.

Distance-wise, this was a repeat of last week's run, only a different place. I started from my house, ran across Trinity Blvd to Robert Trent Jones, then turned right on the Starkey Gap Trail and headed north, crossed 54, and then continued north on Starkey Blvd bike trail and on into Starkey Park. 8 miles out would've been just short of the bike parking lot and bathrooms so kept on going to there to fill up water bottles at the fountain.
But, fortunately it was early enough that the Striders were still hanging out at the shelter and they had some cold bottles of water and Gatorade. Visited for a bit (probably too long) before starting out again. Hard to get back on pace, so while I was getting a little faster each mile on the way up, the mile heading back out was 9:11. Next one was better at 8:53, then started getting a little bit faster for the most part for the remaining miles.
The extra distance on the way out meant I would've been over 17 miles if I returned the exact same way, so instead of that I ran along 54 and entered the neighborhood from the Duck Slough entrance.
Felt pretty good overall, good mileage and nice to see some friends.
