Long-Term Running Goals: Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.
I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.
Personal: Dad of three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.
I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.
(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.
I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:
Forward Progress!
Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Good run by myself this morning.
I've gotten spoiled with so many people to usually run with! Slow warm
up with some faster stuff at the end. Wished I could say I was
completely better but I am getting there. Felt pretty decent
considering Saturday was my longest run in a while.

08:34 pace Ran on the hotel treadmill in Ft. Worth. Was out a little too late the night before but managed to get out of bed in time to run.
Pretty good run. Super slow for the first mile, then slowly bumped up the speed with a quick interval at the end.

Neighborhood run with Jenny , Chris H. Lisa R. and Nicole S.
for some easy running and some light banter along with some lovely
refreshments. Chris tried to sneak up behind me on the final stretch
but the slushie shoe noise gave him away. Good to be back home. Texas was much hotter so it actually seemed cooler than it usually does.

I went to Longleaf at 5:30 this morning. I planned on doing 10.
Said hi to a bunch of people at the start but started a little after
everyone so I could finish my warm up. So, the first few miles were by myself, a little slower than 9:00 for the first mile, then 8:30 for the next mile, and then a little faster after that.
On the out and back in Alico
Pass, I stopped to talk to Diane, then Renee showed as well as Bob
Tiller so we all ran together until I turned around just inside Starkey
Park. Nice weather and I was able to get into a comfortable yet faster
running groove. So, I'm finished with physical therapy now. Not 100% better but it looks like if I continue with the exercises and stretches I should continue to improve. Had a follow up appointment with the Doctor (a different one than the first time). She said everything looked pretty good as far as the x-ray and my range of movement, and to come back in if things started getting worse or if the improvements stopped, in which case they'd probably do an MRI. Fortunately, she was pretty confident it is most likely not a labral tear. Pretty happy that I've managed 3 weeks in a row of over 30 miles. Plan is to gradually work my mileage up a little bit at a time.
