Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Sub 40:00 10K
  • 2:59 Marathon
  • 1:25 Half Marathon
  • 18:30 5K

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.

Personal:

Dad of  three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.

I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.

(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.

I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:

Forward Progress!

Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Grateful Blog

Love living in Florida but love to travel and see the country and rest of the world.

Ran from Foxwood, over to Fox Hollow along the sidewalk from Heritage Springs to Trinity Blvd and a little on that road.

Got back to my house and then did 10 x 25s/50s (fast/recover), which was what was on the plan from McMillan's marathon plan.  I'm not running the fast segments nearly as fast when I did 100m strides with standing around between sets.

Trying to finish up the month with 200 miles, 26 miles to cover over the next three days.

First mile was a little slower today at 10:12.  Left achilles was a little tender, so took it slower to start with and thought about doing only 7 or 8 miles today, but it soon felt better so went with 10.  Ran from WLV over to Pinellas Trail and then north to Klosterman.  Stopped at conservation park on the way back for some cold fountain water.

Big square loop around the outside of WLV

Humpday Hustle run from Longleaf church out to the 2 mile tree.  Ran with Evan and Chad and also Dave for part of the way.  Others opted for the shade of the neighborhood.  Ran through clouds of bugs so had them all over my chest and stomach by the end of the run.

Wednesday night $5 sushi from Publix and a Becks NA beer, refreshing.

7.27@7:55

I was stressed in my sleep about this run.  Had a dream about going to a 5k race at a church but I kept on getting delayed and was running out of time, never did get to the race.

Goal was actually somewhat modest, 5 miles of sub-8:00, 7:59 would've been ok.  Anything I could hold without slowing down.

Looped in WLV, 1 mile warm up.  I paused a little just before the end of the warmup.  Got going and mentally counted through the percent complete - 10% at 0.5, 40% at two miles, 51% at 2.55, until 80% at 4 miles, ok I think I got this.

Splits: 7:28, 7:36, 7:35, 7:17, 7:25

So, about 7:29 average.  Have not tempo'd for a while, have not put together this many sub-8:00's since the last half marathon.

A little under 6 miles in Trinity (near my house), mainly keeping in the shade on Robert Trent Jones.  Finished up with 6x100m strides in front of my house.  Just before the strides at a few gulps of Orangina, very refreshing.

First time in a while hitting 40 miles for M-F.  Looking for maybe another 15 miles tomorrow to finish off the week.

13.62@8:51

Original planned goals were 8:30 average pace, no stopping, 14 miles, and start by sunrise (6:38 am).  I pretty much missed every single goal.  Actual start time 7:50 am.

I stopped at 3.5 miles, drenched in sweat.  Decided on 13 miles at whatever pace I could manage.  Stopped a little bit after the turnaround and for the most part kept on going until reaching Conservation Park (slightly off the planned, direct route home) for some ice cold water to drink and splash. After the stop, had trouble getting back on pace but eventually was able to do so.

Felt exhausted after the run.  Although I missed all my goals, still a long run, mental toughness, etc.
