Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Sub 40:00 10K
  • 2:59 Marathon
  • 1:25 Half Marathon
  • 18:30 5K

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.

Personal:

Dad of  three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.

I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.

(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.

I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:

Forward Progress!

Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Grateful Blog

Love living in Florida but love to travel and see the country and rest of the world.

I ran a little bit by myself, then met Joe and Jamie at 7:15 and ran with them for about 30 minutes before I headed back home.

I had to be back in order to meet the cleaning crew.  I finally decided to call in some experts and get caught up with some deep cleaning.  I think it was well worth it, especially if I can just get back to a point where I can stay on top of it!

Easy paced shorter run this morning, just out and back to the start of Trinity Blvd via the golf course.

Out and back run from my house, past the golf course, then down Trinity Blvd for another 1.25 miles on the grassy shoulder.

Tired legs again this morning but I think running some of this on the soft surface helped.  I was also determined to not run less than 6 miles today.

Pleasant 72 degrees with a slight breeze.

Left my house about 6:45, ran towards SR54 and over to Longleaf area (but got there after everyone had left).  So, first 2.4 miles were at an easy pace.  I was next going to do a progression run where I'd run one mile and then try to run each mile a little bit faster.  First mile was 7:16, then started the second mile but had to stop and collect myself as it felt really hard.  I had told myself I'd keep going, no matter what.  And even though I broke that promise, got going again and pretended that short stopping didn't happen.

Finished that mile in 6:52, then did the four remaining miles in: 6:48, 6:44, 6:37, 6:15

So, it was almost as planned, thought about calling it a failure but decided to cut myself some slack and just enjoy the run, so it ended up all working out.  High 60's at the start which felt really nice!

Ran in the neighborhood with Joe and Jamie.  Legs were feeling a little bit sluggish at first, and after a short time of trying to keep up (and succeeding) my legs felt better.

I wanted to finish up the week with over 40 miles but wanted to keep it simple.  I ran from my house to Starkey Blvd for an out and back.  Lead legs for the first half but felt pretty good once I turned around and even picked up the last mile to 7:35 pace.

I saw Tom on his bike heading from Jenny's house toward Foxwood so he can run there.  He's been putting in more mileage.  I think he's going to be really fast this fall for next cross country season.
