Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Sub 40:00 10K
  • 2:59 Marathon
  • 1:25 Half Marathon
  • 18:30 5K

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.

Personal:

Dad of  three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.

I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.

(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.

I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:

Forward Progress!

Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Grateful Blog

5.02 @ 8:46

Was trying to do 3x1600 @ 6:22.

Had some chest congestion, maybe allergies, but thought I felt well enough.

Got going on the first one and fell off pace about a quarter mile into it but decided to just finish it out and see what happened - got slower and slower and ended up with 7:27 and on top of that form got sloppy at the end and almost rolled my ankle on a small uneven spot in the pavement.

Second one was looking bad, stopped halfway, paused then finished second half - 6:43 for that one, still off especially considering it was really 2x800.

Thougth about skipping the last one but instead tried to hit it hard for 500m instead of 1600 with 6:16 pace and decided to call that ending it on a high note.

Hopefully Thusdays tempo run goes better but I'll see what I can do.

Was nice and cool out at least, wore hat and gloves for warm up, before shedding them for workout portion.

AM  4.21@10:46  HR 124 bpm - easy run in Westlake Village doing 1/4 walk, 1/4 mile run, today was one of my better paces for this type of run

PM 3.48@11:37    HR 123 bpm - evening "Herd Hustle" at Starkey Market, ran with Cynthia using 40 minutes with zone 2 alarm where I'd take a short walk break if HR drifted out of zone 2.

7.04@8:00

Attempted 3 miles tempo at 6:54 goal pace.  Fell a little short with 7:01 average and fastest mile at 6:55.  Felt like I should've been able to do this as it wasn't supposed to be all out. - 7:04, 6:55, 7:03

But still not terrible and I think it did the job as far as stimulus goes

Short and easy today, heart rate staying low.  Feels like I'll be ready for a good 20 miler tomorrow.

18.06@8:11

First mile 8:51, then was 8:24 and eventually down to 7:44 for the last mile.

Did a big loop north on Belcher to Klosterman, south down the Pinellas trail until the base of the pedestrian bridge then back to the neighborhood.  Goal pace was 8:23.

Felt good overall, wishing these runs could only get better but I know they won't always be this good, but I'll take it today.
