Short-Term Running Goals:

  • Sub 40:00 10K
  • 2:59 Marathon
  • 1:25 Half Marathon
  • 18:30 5K

Long-Term Running Goals:

Maintain my health and continuously seek to improve my fitness. Maybe someday get under 3:00 for marathon. More importantly, I'd like to figure out what my maximum ability is and reach that.

I'd also like to find the right balance in life and use running to enhance and improve myself.

Personal:

Dad of  three (welcome Charlotte Dani on 8/10/20) awesome kids and stepdad to three almost as awesome as my own kids.

I have a brown dog named Stella, and three cats - Catty, Tortie, and Esperanza.

(old lines that were a little out of date but couldn't quite bring myself to removing them completely:) Also, have one wonderful brown dog named Sammy and just added a grey tiger cat (Catty) whose life started out rough but now has a better home.

I've recently started another blog so I can easily add lots of pictures and so other non-FRB users can leave comments:

Forward Progress!

Also, for 2012 I started a blog to write down each day one thing that I am grateful for

Grateful Blog

Love living in Florida but love to travel and see the country and rest of the world.

5 easy miles plus  6x100m strides at the end.  Did my new favorite loop from Foxwood.

I was about 9:12 pace when I finished the easy miles and the strides brought the pace to 8:58 average.

Today was a long tempo, with 1 mile warmup, 8 miles at tempo pace, then one mile cooldown.  These are tough for me to get going, but if I can tough outthe first part I end up doing ok.

I felt way off, not hitting goal pace and was getting frustrated so took a brief break 1.2 miles into the tempo portion.  Got going again, this time it was better.  I told myself I'd at least keep going until the turnaround point.  I made that ok and ended up going one more mile, before another short break.  Got going again and made it through.  Paces improved throughout the run, but it wasn't quite the workout it was suppposed to be.  Still a good workout, felt strong at the end.

Tempo miles: 7:55 (hurting), 7:44(better), 7:27, 7:23, 7:19, 7:11, 7:21, 7:10

The "jog" home for the last mile felt easy even though it was actually 7:55 pace.

Run was on the Pinellas Trail from Westlake Village via Eniswood neighborhood.

Mid week medium long run during cutback week so "just" 8 miles.  Ran it a little bit fast - should have been more like 8:45 to 9:15 pace.  Ran on Pinellas Trail from WLV via the crosswalk near the high school on Delaware St, or maybe the "Delaware crossing"

Ran in Westlake Village, one somewhat Texas shaped loop.  This was a little bit short of my mileage goal but Jessica had a dental appointment to try and save a disintegrating tooth.  I'll still be pretty close or right on the weekly mileage goal with the little random extra distances.

Long run Saturday, from my house, a little on SR54, and then Starkey Blvd into Starkey Park until reaching 8 miles, then turning back.  Supposed to be all easy miles but ended picking up the pace last 5 miles between 7:55 and 7:25.  The faster miles were good but this might come back to haunt me for not holding the pace easy enough.
