I started running in May of 2006 while losing 85 lbs after my youngest was born.  I have 6 fantastic kids, 3 girls and 3 boys and a wonderful husband.  My oldest is in college and my baby is in pre-school. (Six kids in 5 schools ;)

14 miles.  The miles were not too bad.  at mile 8 I made one of those tube bands for around my ITB.  Seemed to work.  Ice bath after.  My ice bath appears to be in the 40's.  a bit too cold.  Anyway, upon rising after sitting for a while my right hip was VERY painful.  It eased up after walking around for a while.  It is fine this morning.  Still not sure what to do about the marathon.  I think I need to bail and just run casually but consistently.  I have WAY too much stress right now and I am not sleeping, so I am not recovering like I should.  A little more thought on the matter is required.

NICE miles!!!

To me, running is a form of stress buster. Training on the other hand takes the fun out of it. If you can toe the line healthy and able to put in the necessary mileage to finish the 26.2, the marathon can become something to look forward to, sort of a celebration of the end of summer. However if the thought of running a marathon causes more stress in your life; then I'd say keep the running fun and easy and perhaps run a half marathon instead to keep you motivated.

Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be the right thing. Meanwhile take care of yourself! xoxoxox

Marion - it sounds like you are on the right track to determine how to proceed. I usually go with my 'gut instinct'. It seems to me that your gut is telling you to relax and enjoy running and not worry about TOU. I lost a lot of race registrations last year and earlier this year, but ultimately decided I was happier not worrying about serious injury. No matter what you decide, I will be happy to do long runs with you when and if you are ready.

I feel for you, girl. I think I've finally talked myself into backing off the training and taking it easy for a while.

I totally agree with Smooth and Maurine. YOu'll make the right decision for you and all the 'stress' you're carrying around. Don't let running stress you out, it's supposed to help!
